Complaints Concerning the Yokai Watch Event

Personally, I don't see a problem with the event. It has players coming back to participate in previously abandoned fates for something they're interested in, providing a more interesting experience to new comers venturing out and encountering their first fates. All the better that the event runs for two months. It took me a fraction of my Sunday to acquire all 13 minions and get the associated mount and the two weapons I was interested in, and I'm not personally fussed about actually acquiring the entire set and the mount associated with that. I don't really care for the look of most of the minions or even the two weapons I bothered to gun for, but I had a blast running fates with a few friends for a few hours to get them.

I used to try and scramble to have every single event item, but in the end I found I have a lot less stress and far more fun with a game if I simply play to have fun and stop trying to acquire everything (I imagine my lack of issues regarding inventory/retainer space is due in part to that). I don't despair from not having all the things in real life, I find more enjoyment in interacting with friends and helping others in real life, and both seem to hold true for me in Final Fantasy XIV as well. X)

This is just my opinion though, I'm by no means suggesting people don't have a right to be kerfluffled by something that kerfluffles them.

Let me preface by saying I don't personally want any of the minions, weapons, or the mounts from this event as I honestly think all of them look just awful but I want to address this point.

That being said however, I still wouldn't go for this event even if there were things I want as I absolutely can't stand doing FATEs as a player that already has every single class maxed out at 60. FATEs are boring and their main purpose has always been a way of getting extra exp while you're out questing and without that it's difficult for me to muster up the will to really grind them out even for something I want because their main purpose doesn't provide a real benefit (no I don't consider the event items a real benefit). I'd want something more substantial as a reward, my immediate thought is that if you you do a FATE as a 60 it should provide a much higher amount of gil as compensation. A more tangible benefit like that could potentially have people out in the world farming FATEs as a way of earning money after they have a class at 60.
