    Hmm can you explain what you mean by this, as I don't quite understand what you're saying. Also in my group I do not do any jails as the NIN in my group handles the second and the WAR gets the other jails, so I usually use everything off cooldown so long as I am on the boss.

    Are there any tips to follow for a fledgeling (40s) Dragoon? Or is there kinda nothing complicated enough to really be too worried? I've been going around the jobs, trying to see where I might improve my proficiency, and Dragoon just feels a bit basic at this level. There's Heavy Thrust to keep up, straightforward. Disembowel seems like a good idea to have going. Phlebotomize of course, and I try to Internal Release for that (and also using Fracture, but I can see where maybe later there's just not really room to worry about that maybe). And then it's just using buffs/oGCD skills as they come up While TTTing. Just about the gist of it until I get into HW skills?

    Example would be you cannot simply just use the Yafemi piece because it would put you below the Acc cap for A8S and <600SKS thus forcing you to convert your Det melds to Acc/SKS. e.g. you may have to use the less aggressive Midan Bracelet vs the Lore Bracelet. So what I mean is, even though the Yafemi is 19 effective Str better than the Lore one, you have to compensate elsewhere to make it work so thus you don't actually improve by 19 effective Str, the realistic gain is something like 6-8.

    For example, this is my current build while waiting on the A8S spear to drop

    Before unlocking any Heavensward abilities just use the following priority list: Heavy Thrust > Disembowel Combo > Phlebotomize > True Thrust Combo. It's a good idea to drop Fracture altogether as it has a relatively low potency and a high TP cost (220 pot/80TP). For comparison your TTT combo has ~237 pot/~63 TP per GCD without taking into account the buff that Disembowel gives. Fracture has its uses but they're very few and far between and you're better off cross-classing something like Mantra or Foresight instead.

    The gameplay of a Dragoon changes rather drastically at levels 56-60, refer back to the OP of this thread when you hit that point for more information.

    Sorry but I just wanted to check is the content of this thread updated to the latest patch? (I'm assuming it is since I see midas 1s etc.. gears)

    Hey guys,

    There's been pressure of late from my static for me to try and improve my DPS but for some reason I feel blind to what I could do. I know there's probably a lot I need to change in what I do, but at present I have no idea what I can do etc.
    I would be really grateful if someone could have a look at one of my better fflogs and help highlight what I'm doing wrong etc.

    We've only just started to do the whole 'save buffs on pull until he goes small' thing on Ratfinx, and I'm sure that might be contributing to me screwing up later on as I'm prone to just hitting oGCDs as soon as they come off CD, leaving me buffing attacks a little before he goes small but having them wear off before he shrinks;;;
    I went a while without using potions too, and I'm starting to use them again in my opener (when I remember, oops).
    But yeah, I hope you guys can help.

    A big tip someone here left, that helped me, is to make sure you reapply phlebotomize on the boss when both bird phases is start. I also pretty much unload everything on him at the start to push the first phase (means I don't have to deal with that few seconds where I can't hit him because either I'm a prey target or I'm trying not to get the derp stamp/chasing him to one wall from the other). I hold Dragonfire Dive until the first add spawn, as well as that gierskogul that's coming up, so I can hit both boss and that. As well, my group pulls the mandragora to the boss, and during my CT4 I reapply the disembowel and chaos thrust to ratfinx instead of the add, since that add is gonna die anyway, and then phleb to the boss as well. I hold blood for blood in that phase, so that I can pop it after that second bird phase. I'm still tweaking how I do that.

    It's possible (and Dervy had a video to match) to get a full opener after that phase. Sometimes I forget, though, and sometimes it doesn't quite line up that way, but a potion and battle lit there with B4B up is a nice good pounding for him. I've been trying to work out the timing to unload it all after he shrinks, but again sometimes I just forget. I'm not among the top parsers (I think my best is 71st percentile) but those are the tips that best helped me improve.

    I would be reviewing the optimal opener and how you're doing it. Checking your gier usage, making sure your rotation is -tight- ( I noticed you had 16 CT and only 12 Ph, not sure if you're not adding PH or doing CT rotation for adds without PH) and in general making sure to use your short term CD's like jump asap.

    Dragoon relies on confident usage of cooldowns and a steady roation being laid out. LS, BOTD, bfb, IR, unless these things won't be back up when you absolutely need them or you won't get their duration, use them. Experiment a little bit with your cooldowns finding a balance between uptime and saving them. You should be determining based on dps checks, burn phases, dead time, and add phases when you will get the most out of your main CD's. For example you saved BFB until 1 minute into the fight choosing not to use it in your opener. Had you just used it off the bat you would had it up in 20 seconds later than when you hit it but gained the effects of a 30% dps increase -twice- which is huge.
