    A proposed solution for having players become better players.

    We've had a lot of posts lately either commenting / complaining about player skill levels or proposing punishments for players who don't cut it. I think a better method is to incentivize players rather than punish them since SE will never implement a punishment system.

    What I propose is creating a skill-based bonus reward per player not dissimilar to the adventurer in need bonus you can get for queuing up as a needed class (ie, tank). This would be a rewards incentive of bonus tomes, gil, experience, and/or a small chance of a drop at the end of the dungeon based on how well you have performed. The base criteria I propose would be the following, but they can certainly be tweaked:

    1. DPS roles: Your bonus rating is calculated by the amount of DPS you deal. If the system were advanced enough to allow it, I'd also have it subtract a number factored by the amount of avoidable damage you take.

    2. Tank roles: Your bonus rating is calculated by DPS combined with enmity and damage mitigation.

    3. Healer roles: Your bonus rating is calculated by amount of actual health restored (ie, overhealing or spamming heal on max health characters wouldn't count) combined with DPS. As content becomes easier from being overgeared, you'll find your DPS contribution scaling a bit more than your healing contribution.

    These would basically just be looking at only the boss fights for the calculations. Think something akin to Stone, Sky, Sea's expectations but the number would be higher since SSS is looking for a minimum effort. The bonus rating requirement will be calculated by your gear's stats and the fight itself (which would vary because a Savage raid fight is different than Fractal), so you will always have to perform well to achieve a bonus. At the end of an instance, if a player ended up getting a bonus, a special animation / effect would play like a level up so as to encourage earning that.

    Some good things about this proposal:

    1. It directly incentivizes people to care.
    2. Not getting the bonus would likely make people want to earn the bonus and thus educate themselves to play better.
    3. Extra experience and tomes directly cut down on leveling and anima grinds. People will want to play better.

    Some problems I see with this proposal:

    1. It won't help anyone who truly doesn't care. There's no helping these people no matter what you do.
    2. Since we're only looking at boss fights and since pulls can vary so much in size and pacing, it doesn't do anything to encourage people to actually use AoE skills on trash packs.

    No thank you. I main healer and am there to heal not DPS. My role is to keep people alive not to deal damage. SE has said that the content is designed so healer DPS is not calculated into the fights why would they add DPS into any bonus calculation?

    Sounds like you might need to go to the Hall of the Novice and complete the healer training. They directly tell you to DPS if no one needs healing. And I don't mean to sound too harsh, but a system like this is designed for players like you.

    Good job this 'system' has zero chance of getting introduced then, as it's a pile of self-aggrandizing garbage.

    Lost in all of this is the aim of playing an mmo - any mmo. That is actually enjoyment.
    If someone likes playing the game and their groups are clearing content, then it doesn't matter whether their dps v heal output conforms to your imaginary pass/fail quota.
    If you don't want to come across players who's main focus is enjoying the game, rather than fulfilling your work-not-play spreadsheet figures - the answer is simple - organize your groups with like minded players.

    People clear the content ok and have a good enjoyable run. Thanks are given, and each player turns to the next thing they'd like to do.
    But not here - now they have a 'Was I really good enough' quota to pass/fail - rubbish. Of course they where ok. The group enjoyed the run and content was cleared.

    Don't go back to the drawing board with this - put the cover on it. Find like minded players, start your own spreadsheet focused FC if there's enough of you, and leave the people who actually play the game for enjoyment away from this elitist grading waffle.

If a player purposely hinder their own ability through sheer stubbornness, people have a right to voice their complaints. This isn't the same as tanks who only pull in small groups because content is designed with that philosophy in mind. Ice Mages, lack of Healer DPS and etc do not fall under that category as you are given tools to do far more, yet are simply refusing to.

    lol I took that training and basically you do need to heal the NPCs or you epic fail and beat it not problem w/o atking. Heck the tank is so weak and if you stop healing him he can die easy lol.

    If you don't DPS, I wont use my defensive CDs... so you at least have to work a little bit.

    Then you can just heal? His proposal take in account both healing and dpsing. And if you heal a lot and no dpsing (due to mobs take long time to kill) it should be equal to ppl heal less and dpsing more (cause mobs die quicker)? Unless you meant healing as in cast a cure only now and then and afk most other time, then it will actually lower your chance on bonus. But then why should you get a bonus as everyone else when you only press a skill every 10 sec while other party members press a skill every a second or so? Most people play healer seems not to heal but to have chilling time in a dungeon

    Last time I saw someone say that and ACTUALLY met them in a roulette, they spammed cure 1 and 2 on a tank with 90% hp lol.
