This game was built around instant gratification because it would have failed otherwise. This is simply the age of gaming we live in, accept it.

Yeah... I am not accepting anything. Unless you are implying that SE is a sellout and is just going to cater to the lowest common denominator for money. Eventually those people will wander away to the next shiny thing as they continue to do so. Instant gratification is not really a good thing...once people get their shiny, they'll move onto the next game for that instant gratification feeling again...
I wonder why we're never given dev responses in these game altering threads anymore..such a shame. In the 1.x days the community reps were always happy to reply and share with us that they hear what we are saying and considering it..etc.![]()
I disagree with the "instant gratification" part. There's nothing gratifying about dealing with venomous and raging players in game. Ideally it would be nice if everyone got along, but this game is almost like real life to some people here that they take it too damn seriously. IMHO just a shortcut to an aneurism or a shortened lifespan.
Also, would people stop comparing this game to XI please? XI was a great game and there were a lot of things that they corrected over the years, much like they've done or are continuing to do with this game. Focus on what is in front of you. Otherwise, go back to XI if you pine for the days. It's still available.

Did you read the thread at all? It has been said time and time again, XI is not the same so there is nothing to "go back to."
No one is asking for XI-2, people are asking for good things from previous games they've played. If we can put in such AWSUUM!11one things from WoW, then guess what..we have the right to ask for good things from other games, like GW2, XI etc.
Well who is to say what is wrong or outdated..I mean, people like what they like, all they can do suggest and say what they want to see in XIV. Nyzul Isle would be awesome..but its just not the same without having worthwhile rewards. Sure it may be fun , but will it have longevity? Will the rewards be difficult to get, will they actually hold substance to the point where you see it and say to yourself, "wow!! Look everyone what they have!" I highly doubt it..which is one of the core issues with this game atm I feel. There is good from FFXI. It is just a shame what people want from it is what was wrong and outdated about it. I myself have always suggested we get a Nyzul Isle like content because it can work in the context of this game. Ohh and look...they did! Palace of the Dead coming in 3.35.
You see, you say FFXI's style is better for the game, but you don't actually explain why. You base it solely off your own experiences. I played FFXI for roughly 10 years since it first came out in NA. I loved it like everyone else. I am not blind to the fact that a lot of practices they conducted in it are mostly outdated. I look back and I wonder how I had the patience to deal with all that. You can't convince me that the systems in that game which were tailored to more hardcore players of that MMO era (2002) would appeal to FFXIV's current audience at a mass appeal.
Incoming I am wrong because I am wrong post.
This content means nothing if its not executed properly and will just end up dead content collecting dustNyzul had amazing longevity, for years! You think Palace of the Dead will have that kind of replay? o.O I will be pleasantly surprised if it does.
So in the end I must say, XI style was better in the sense that it had longevity...it never was Dead on Arrival, and it never obsolete the next update...and that is just one of many things..

Again you are dancing around the subject. I have said multiple times why they are outdated from personal experience and logic. I have yet to see real proof that it's concepts would work at a mass appeal. I only see a few people who played the game previously praising the idea. You have not told me how this works on a casual, midcore, and hardcore level.
I don't say this to defend ARR. I just see a conversation where its like trying to jump over a pothole to just end up falling off a cliff. Trying to replace a flawed but very workable system to an even more flawed system that is extremely hard to work with and balance. I don't ever want to see a job left out because they don't have a fire element skill/spell.
Unfortunately yes, and all I see are comparisons to this and that. I was playing XI when Zilart was released (the beginning basically) With this being said, I realize that XIV isn't the same either. It's always changing. This argument will be forever brought up and I think I'm done contributing to it. More productive banging my head into the wall.
"XIV" and "changing" in one sentence. Thanks for the laugh. But XIV hasn't really changed at all. Take out the MSQ content and directly compare the differences between 2.0 and 3.0. I wager you'll find very little has changed.Unfortunately yes, and all I see are comparisons to this and that. wait wait. I'm a new player to XI, started last year in late october and been playing every other day since then inbetween other single player games. Am I playing a bad version? I can think for myself but me praising it and not knowing anything about the other versions of the game kinda makes me feel bad like I'm the type of player they're pandering to and there's me ranting about how much I hate WoW refugees trying to change the game.
Now I really wish I played XI when I was little.
Pardon my ignorance I didn't know I was playing a butchered version of the original :c
