See if this counts as a major mistake? Common: someone in party gets excited and runs up to a random mob, linking 3 others with 2 already engaged. We all survive with little difficulty. CON PGL PGL GLA Lv.21-24 fighting Lv.25-29 crabs. Imagine you did that in XI. You'd have a dead tank, main healer, and one very dead MNK.Really? we had consequences even if we made minor mistakes. Link 4 instead of 3 = 2-3 deaths, waiting for weakness, etc. Maybe get mobs more difficult if you're not finding it challenging? Our most exciting times were link3, while fighting get repops, suddenly 5 mobs, kill 2, 3 more appear, we fight, battle raise, keep going, and after 10min of everyone doing everything they can, we finally finish the last, all mp and most hp are exhausted, and sit back and rest after a job well done. It's a challenge for tanks to keep hate on them, healers to keep everyone alive without running out of mp OR pulling hate, and DD for burning hte mobs down quickly, without getting hit so the healers can concentrate on the tanks instead of having to heal everyone.
You do realize the 10Lv. cap on EXP is still in place right? What would be the good point of going to tougher mobs for the same EXP? Who in the group do you think would agree with that?NO, you are in a bad party if you're taking on mobs that have no risk of wiping your group at all. You aren't getting the SP you could be getting, because you're not pushing yourselves. That's a lame-ass party full of people who don't want a challenge. Not the game's fault.
Next time yer in a pt like that, and it gets boring, go somewhere with higher level mobs.
On my lower level jobs, within 5 ranks. On my r50 GLA, no more than 5 ranks for sure, though I can do stuff from even to four ranks higher pretty much indefinitely. You are quite correct that a spawn of a mob 4-5 ranks higher than yourself, while soloing, can be deadly; but that's what separates the good from the merely OK in this game, the ability to ride that bleeding edge of viability.
Within 5 ranks, higher or lower than yourself? Of course you can chain things at Lv.50; you have those extra ability slots that a Lv.25 doesn't. I'm not saying I cannot survive the addition of another tough mob, but the options at that point are A. Fight and hope you win, or B. Run and start over. How is that conducive to actually getting anything done if it's liable to happen over and over again?
No one ran up to anything, mobs spawned on us. This isn't FFXI either, it's FFXIV. Notice the V on the end. That means it's not the same as FFXI. And we had a dead healer, with the THM struggling, I was using hp moves, the tank was in pure defence mode, and we made it through. Even if we died, it was still exciting and fun, but more exciting and fun because we lived. But we lived as a result of people knowing what they were doing and performing calculated tasks, not just mashing the x button to hit hte mob faster or heal faster.See if this counts as a major mistake? While this is not Directly related to how sp partys work now. For the first time i feel like MRD can work as intended with the new claim system. I have hit up the strongholds a couple times now, And i feel like I am able to run on all cylinders with out having to hold back now.
Its beautiful, bordering on orgasmic.

You stated that you were doing: CON PGL PGL GLA Lv.21-24 fighting Lv.25-29 crabs. You do realize the 10Lv. cap on EXP is still in place right? What would be the good point of going to tougher mobs for the same EXP? Who in the group do you think would agree with that?
You could have been doing lvl. 29-34 of some other mob that is deadlier, if you want more of a challenge and more sp. But, I don't need to tell ya that, you already know it.
Higher than myself. And I've had no problems at all with my lower chars. since the update, I have no idea why you seem to be unable to handle the sitch.Within 5 ranks, higher or lower than yourself? Yes, for god's sake, when the going gets tough, you have to fight and hope you win. You seem to want great sp soloing with no chance of dying. That's weak sauce. You can't have both good SP and no risk, there has to be a tradeoff.
Like I said above - the difference between a good player and an okay player, is that the good player will win those close matches 19/20 times, the okay player 12/20.
Mine was an actual event that I was giving as an example. Notice the "We all survive..", and the denotation of jobs in party. No one ran up to anything, mobs spawned on us. Not entirely. I was blasting through mobs, MRD are DPS machines now, AND hate machines. I had to hold back to avoid taking hate from the tank. When I'd grab an add and hold it while the GLD, PUG, and ARC worked on the main mob, I'd kill mine in the time they killed theirs, if not faster, while not needing the CON to heal me. I dont' know if it was gear related or what, but I felt like a DPS monster. However I was using skills from every melee class as I have them all leveled to 10+ to get their basic skills. While this is not Directly related to how sp partys work now.
