NO, you are in a bad party if you're taking on mobs that have no risk of wiping your group at all. You aren't getting the SP you could be getting, because you're not pushing yourselves. That's a lame-ass party full of people who don't want a challenge. Not the game's fault.

Next time yer in a pt like that, and it gets boring, go somewhere with higher level mobs.

What level are you opposed to the range of level of your targets?
On my lower level jobs, within 5 ranks. On my r50 GLA, no more than 5 ranks for sure, though I can do stuff from even to four ranks higher pretty much indefinitely. You are quite correct that a spawn of a mob 4-5 ranks higher than yourself, while soloing, can be deadly; but that's what separates the good from the merely OK in this game, the ability to ride that bleeding edge of viability.
