Just make Samurai an OT good enough to compete with WAR, and make DRK focus more on being MT, then samurai will be a tank and "dps" at same time

I'd rather the tank design be changed so that no one is guaranteed MT/OT. If attempts at synergy are creating that sort of environment, something needs to be done to undo that.
Anyway, here's something sort of relevant. >.>
I would argue more from the stance of Third Eye, the job's A scaling in Parry and the ton of parry available to them. Seigan entered the game way after SAM was introduced.
* The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
* Design ideas:
Red Mage - COMPLETE (https://tinyurl.com/y6tsbnjh), Chemist - Second Pass (https://tinyurl.com/ssuog88), Thief - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/vdjpkoa), Rune Fencer - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/y3fomdp2)

Ahh. I started the patch that Level Sync came out, so Seigan and Third Eye were already a thing, but I still understood their original intention, lol.
They did say they were gonna re-work Parry, too. I'm hoping it becomes SAM's main thing.
At least in my eyes:
PLD: Block tank
WAR: HP tank
DRK: Magic tank
SAM: Parry tank
