Isn't it though? People are complaining that they don't find them visually appealing which is a matter of preference. I've stated my piece on why they don't fit the Eorzean aesthetic, I feel that explains it pretty well. It makes sense to me at least.

Made sense to me as well.![]()
That's exactly what it's about. What are you talking about?! You don't like the way the weapons look. You would prefer that they look different.
Once again words are put in my mouth for me. Gee, thanks?
The weapons aren't consistent with the art direction, rubbing some people the wrong way in the process <-- that's exactly what this is about. This has nothing to do with me. Even though people try to spin it as such all the time (because that's all they got).

Again, you never really ever responded to my reason as to why they don't fit with the Eorzean art direction. These aren't Eorzean weapons, they're weapons from the Lord of the Inferno Ifrit.Once again words are put in my mouth for me. Gee, thanks?

thank you, these are weapons that are taken directly from a glowing beasts body, not crafted by a mindless drone who only likes the way steel and copper looks on weapons.
15 abilities each? what is this... Kindergarten?A jack of all trades WHM... what is this 1989?
Not Eorzean, the art direction of FFXIV. Every item has to be kept within certain artistic boundaries. Otherwise the direction becomes inconsistent and detached. No game wants that to happen, and no, it is not common for companies to change their art direction in the same game. Between different games, sure. All you will have is a bunch of artistic nonsense where nothing fits anywhere.

You do realize that all of the current crafted gear comes from only within the confines of Eorzea right? Eorzea is only one continent with 6 major cities on it, 3 of which we don't have access to (Sharlayan, Ishgard and Ala Mhigo). All of the current artistic direction comes from one of those cities on the same continent. It is decidedly Eorzean. The only reason it is the only artistic direction we're familiar with is because it's the only one we've been exposed to aside from the Garleans who we have had limited interaction with. So people are mistaking the art direction of the game with the Eorzean style of equipment because honestly it's all we've really seen and used. Not Eorzean, the art direction of FFXIV. Even the Garlean art direction is drastically different from that of Eorzea and hardly realistic. As I stated before their armor has a much more noble and military look to it and is often comprised mainly of the colors black, red or silver. They have gun-hybrid weapons, something we would not expect from an Eorzean weapon.
There are also other continents out there which we haven't even come across yet. I'm willing to bet that their artistic direction is drastically different from Eorzea's.
Like I said in my first sentence, I don't mean the region-specific art direction but the overall art direction of the game as a whole. There are multiple layers and not just one. Every item no matter where it originates from should follow these basic principles to not make them feel detached from the rest of the game.
Within these boundaries you can pick pretty much any theme and style you want, be it ifrit's horn or near eastern scimitar.
