If your only criteria for satisfaction is that they propagate the 'feel' of ifrit then wouldn't you agree that there are several other ways to do that that could more than likely be more universally satisfying?

You know, coming from playing many MMOs for many years I've come to accept the fact that there will be gear released that I don't like the look of. However instead of incessantly bitching about it, I accept that and just move on. If I don't like how something looks, I don't use it. There comes a point where you have to ask yourself "Is the stat bonus really worth it?" If the answer to that is no, just don't use it.
I feel people here in FFXIV need to learn that lesson as well. You won't like how every last piece of gear that is released looks, as in this case you may find some of it downright ugly. Especially with the materia system coming into play, you've got a choice. And at the end of the day, if you really can't even stand to ever see these items on another player, maybe it's time to grow up and stop caring about what other people use or find a different game. If gear design pisses you off that much, there's something seriously wrong.
Edit:
There's no such thing as universally satisfying.
This isn't about preferences. If you don't understand that, take a step back, look at the arguments again and either walk away or try once more.
Isn't it though? People are complaining that they don't find them visually appealing which is a matter of preference. I've stated my piece on why they don't fit the Eorzean aesthetic, I feel that explains it pretty well. It makes sense to me at least.
The weapons look exactly like they were made from the body parts of ifrit, if they are the "same old weapons" show me one that looks like em, there are only so many types of weapons there can be but they can add all sorts of art work to them, which is what they have done by adding ifrit's horns etc to them.
unfortunately you don't like it
but I LOVE IT THIS MUCH!!
Made sense to me as well.![]()
That's exactly what it's about. What are you talking about?! You don't like the way the weapons look. You would prefer that they look different.
This is true. Unfortunately some people do not realize this.I like the weapons as they are, all of them! Just because you and a few other people don't like them doesn't mean they should redesign them. Even if they did, another group of people would just complain that they don't like them. No matter what they make or how much effort they put into it, it will always look bad to some people and thankfully they realize this.
If I don't like something, I won't wear it. Plain and simple.
aesthetics is not a trivial issue and it's not simply a matter of opinion. So i have to disagree with you there, I think the lone knight helm is ugly, but I can't say it doesn't fit. Something like /display off on the other hand is a disturbance to the rhyme and rhythm of the game.
The difference in those two has nothing to do with my opinion on weather or not it makes you look better. It's simply an immersion breaker and a carcinogen to the feel in the game that could have long term effects.
edit: all im saying is i dont like glowy and firey but you know what it wouldn't be so bad if they weren't so damn bulky and impractical looking.
