Immersion is subjective though
I love them, and seriously stop crying.
In couple years when cap is 900 and we have newer weapons it wont be so bad.
I despise the way Miqote look in XIV and I despised the way Mithra looked in XI, I actually dislike all cat girls, therefore SE should either delete them or change their design.
...What? You mean to say that's not a matter of preference? Well all I know about humanity is wrong then.
Still only your opinion. My opinion is that they don't look too bulky.aesthetics is not a trivial issue and it's not simply a matter of opinion. So i have to disagree with you there, I think the lone knight helm is ugly, but I can't say it doesn't fit. Something like /display off on the other hand is a disturbance to the rhyme and rhythm of the game.
The difference in those two has nothing to do with my opinion on weather or not it makes you look better. It's simply an immersion breaker and a carcinogen to the feel in the game that could have long term effects.
edit: all im saying is i dont like glowy and firey but you know what it wouldn't be so bad if they weren't so damn bulky and impractical looking.
Still, these won't be the best items in the game. It's already been said that Materia-fitted items can out do event drops. So it's not like you'll be forced to have one.
Can someone post a link to the actual weapons? I've seen all these threads, but I've yet to actually SEE the weapons that are causing so much fuss.
if im running in a dungeon and we win and i ask my friend oh do you have claret's coif because it dropped? yea i'm wearing it i just turned the display off that's a studder in the flow of of the world. I could have known that just by looking at him but I have to be reminded of the game for a second.
Now that I think of it I don't know if these weapons would break my immersion so much but at the very least I think SE should keep in mind the entire player base i'm willing to concede the merit in glowing weapons despite the lack of any logical conclusion of how they got that way, if others are only willing to concede the physical properties of matter and effective weapon's manufacturing.

I'm sorry, I haven't seen them, what are they?
Are you serious? Ifrit, A GIANT BURNING INFERNO BEAST drops them and you want to know why they glow? It's seriously a mystery to you how they got that way?if im running in a dungeon and we win and i ask my friend oh do you have claret's coif because it dropped? yea i'm wearing it i just turned the display off that's a studder in the flow of of the world. I could have known that just by looking at him but I have to be reminded of the game for a second.

"Oh hey a demi-god drops them but wai do they glowz?"
*rubs my forehead*

I don't understand this whining at all.
FFX weapons were all colorful imaginative and original in design.
I like these new weapons they remind me a lot of Monster Hunter weapons because when somebody pulls out an Ifrit weapon everyone can see that that player has gone trough that trial.
Just because there's some other colors than 24 shades of brown doesn't mean it's WOW- lady gaga armor...
Honestly I hope they follow this set with all the summons and weapons and gear made to look like those themes.
I think many of the current weapon look way too bland to be FF gear it's great that they're trying to add some variety.
