    Its because you recover at progressively increased rates the longer you stand still.

    if you incur enmity your rate resets, if you move your rate resets.

    once you're in passive mode and standing still you'll start to recover. You'll get increasingly better ticks the longer you stand still unless you incur more enmity then you start over.

    It's simple.

    If they got rid of all recovery while in a fight it would be devastating to mages.

    This is especially true for the people who don't have healing spells/healing actions allocated to their action bar/haven't gotten them from their respective classes.

    Rest healing is obnoxiously slow in most MMO's. I hope that it doesn't take forever in this now
    Well ideally it will be more like Kill Kill Kill Kill Kill STOP (but take shorter time stopping than if you stopped between fights).

    If you have to stop that often after every fight and either almost dead or out of mp all the time you're probably fighting stuff thats waaaay out of your league.

    No recovery in fights will only make a difference in longer fights , which should be tough because you have limited MP and need to make use of your recovery abilities and items (since alchemist needs a boost).

    May want to clarify on this before more false info is spread about XIV's older successful brother -

    ToAU was the era of TP-burns, for two reasons:

    1. Mobs resisted magic, heavily with the exception of Flans, which were melee resistant.

    2. People figured it to be faster to get a BRD/WHM or COR/WHM (ugh) and 5 Melees and just destroy mobs.

    It had absolutely zero to do with mana regeneration, it had to do with using nukers was inefficient in most of ToAU spots because it was Square's counter to manaburns post CoP.

    You already "recover at progressively increased rates" on hp and mp if you stand still you regain it faster than if you walked around.... My point, why even say anything if it doesn't effect us in a HUGE WAY and is already in the game. . . . "Resting makes nukers useless in a dungeon crawling world." Why would you complain about another way to gain mp? I never said get rid of the one we have, just adding ; ;.... people gosh.

    PS: your burn parties must have sucked if you didn't have 2 bards or a cor. LOL, Never even had to rest.

    Don't forget Colibri mimicked any magic you cast back at you or whoever had hate, insta-cast, so nuking was a really bad idea.
