In my opinion, new abilities will only work if they replace old ones. Like the way stone 3 replaced stone 2. There's simply too much bloat already, like other have said.

Why would you have a Trait that relies on you being in a DPS stance to heal more on Adlo? Wouldn't it be better to to either have the trait be all healing or all DPS. Like 10% chance everytime you use Physick. Adlo will instantly cast just the Galvanized effect. Or a 10% chance that each use of Broil might cost no MP.
I like helping people with their Job ideas, it's fun to help them visuallize and create the job they'd like to play most. Plus I make my own too, I'll post them eventually.
Hmm. Maybe a chance on casting Ruin or similar damage spells out of CS gives your hard hitters CS-like damage? I dunno.

id like to see like ability alteration systems in place instead kinda like what pvp skills do, ability bloat is not a nice thing XD Like some have said already just leave the "new skills" to the new jobs lol. Its a one avatar all classes game anyways so in that regard you ar technically getting new skills :P

Just let me cross class Battle Litany on SCH. Dont care about any more abilities.
But in all seriousness, if they did add new abilities, its pretty much got to the point where they have to straight up make older ones obsolete or they have to remove older abilities. Ability bloat is a thing now.

Well guys, we have to consider that every trait we have today is related to classes, not jobs. If we would get new traits instead of skills, we would probably get some maim and mend, and some enhanced mind traits. Also, some traits make some cross-class skills better for their original classes, like increased potency, reduced CD...
If we could evolve our skills, it would be awesome, changing the way it works or giving more potency or an AoE effect, but I think it's unlikely.
...Unless they change the trait system to support jobs from the level 60 and above. Then we will have traits to improve job skills.
We could have all our Bubble skills improved, we could add damage to skills like Celestial Opposition and Silent Dusk. We could have an improvement on regen that everyone affected by it will also have a 5% defense boost... The sky is the limit...
Want a heal? How much money you got?
The design here is that scholars often (mostly, even) are going to be spending much time in Cleric's stance DPSing and switching over to heal either in response to specific mechanics that need mitigation or in response to something going wrong. Since the window is quite large (20s) it's very likely that you can keep the buff up once you've been in DPS mode for a while. This means when you drop Cleric's stance to go heal mode you've got an instant Adlo on hand. The trait is not really meant to improve DPS or healing raw power but instead to provide a more flexible transition time between the two activities that demands you've been dpsing a while (not available at will or when purely healing).
The numbers might need tuning say 20%, 30s or something to make sure keeping the buff up happens naturally whenever you continuously DPS but the basic idea is it gives you a bit more oomph at the moment of the switch. Possible addition along those lines: "No cast time and no cooldown (puts it off oGCD)" though that might be really good.
Consider it also in the context of the rest of the additional kit. Prep Tactics is similarly a short-window response tool. One can imagine DPSing riding the quickening buff and Prep Tactics->Instant Aldo in response to say a telegraphed heavy tank buster, someone getting marked by some kind of prey mechanic or just someone about to get caught by into an AoE. Sure you can kind of say this is the kit because of Swiftcast but that's A) A more general tool. B) Something that feels awkward because of the delay in the buff application, which wouldn't be an issue here since it's presumably already on-hand due to the overlapping 20/30s durations.

I like the alternating trait/ability idea.
62 (Ability) Mind over Matter: The user lets loose a burst of protective energy that shields party members from most enfeebling effects. Enemies within range also receive a debuff that prevents them from inflicting critical hits. Duration of shielding: 10 seconds. Duration of critical debuff: 15 seconds. Cooldown: 120 seconds. (Shields against any debuff that's curable by Esuna. No limit on the amount of debuffs that can be shielded against as long as the buff is active.)
64 (Trait) Empowered Mind: Presence of Mind additionally grants a +10% boost to Mind.
66 (Ability) Winds of Purity: Halves the base cast time for all area of effect spells, as well as lowering MP cost by 20%. Duration: 10 seconds. Cooldown: 150 seconds. (Affects Medica I/II, Cure III, Aero III, and Holy. Stacks with Presence of Mind.)
68 (Trait) Fluid Aether: Fluid Aura now restores the user's MP equal to how much damage it inflicts. Additionally, Fluid Aura will no longer miss.
80 (Ability) Fountain of Mercy: Creates a field that inflicts water-aspected damage over time with a potency of 60. Additionally, party members within the field will take 10% less damage. Field duration: 20 seconds. Cooldown: 150 seconds.
Winds of Purity should probably be replaced with something else though, since it is kinda redundant with Presence of Mind (and quite possibly broken in combination as well, although it'd also drain MP like crazy). Giving WHMs another offensive ability might be quite problematic though. A reraise skill might be problematic too when taking balance with other healers into account.

No new skills please. How about a third tier of jobs?
