I'd probably split it between new traits and abilities. Assuming 5 benefits total I might want something like this for scholar:

62 (Ability) Aetheric Focus: The next spell you cast within 10s will automatically have a critical effect. Instant Cast. Costs 1 Aetherflow. 30s CD.
64 (Trait) Improved Galvanize: When your galvanize effects expire due to reaching the end of their duration the subject is healed for 1/2 the remaining value of the effect.
66 (Ability) Ruin Burst: Deals Unaspected damage with potency 80 to target and all enemies near it. Increases the duration of your effects on enemies damaged by 10s. Instant Cast. Costs 1 Aetherflow. 12s CD.
68 (Trait) Quickening: 10% Chance each time you hit a target with Broil that your next Adloquium within 20s will have no cast time.
80 (Ability) Preperation Tactics: Reduces the duration of your next Galvanize to 5 seconds but increases the value of the effect by 50%. Instant Cast. 120s CD.
