It will happen. It will happen if S-E still sees opportunity on Xbox One. Subscription money was never the issue, it's just about getting the Xbox players to connect with PS4 and PC. Microsoft are being progressive and relaxing their policies. Microsoft's Phil Spencer tweeted that he would like the game on their platform. There's no reason to doubt the possibility of this happening now.

I'm not sure about that
But I know servers like jenova, that launched with the ps4 version, didn't allow transfers for quite a long time for the sake of letting the economy stabilize so that pc players who had already been playing didn't just transfer over and control the entire server with all these new players running around.

Any player on any platform could create a character here though, it was just cut off from transfers.

I keep hearing about Gold Subscription but dont playstation players needs their subscription to go online with PS4 as well as the FF14 subscription? I am not an Xbox person and I play on PC so really asking about this whole thing.

We are only required to pay for online play when its on their network. Games like FFXIV are not run in any way by Sony... Although I can't imagine anyone having a PS4 and not having PS+ just because with the free games and stuff it pays for itself.

The problem with FFXIV on Xbox is Microsoft is greedy. Remember they are the ones that had to change their plans shortly before the release of the One because bright idea of locking games to specific systems... and they lost a lot of customers to Sony even though they changed their minds.

EDIT: To be clear EVERYONE should be fighting for this to happen. Console gamers don't have much for options when it comes to MMOs. That means people interested in an MMO but without a PS4 or PC good enough to play one they would nearly be forced into playing here. That increases the number of people playing (and paying) for FFXIV which means more stuff for all of us.

Reading in the news right now at Microsoft is finally opening up their systems to allow cross-platform play with PC and PS4 (if Sony agree to it) starting with Rocket League on the XB1..

Sony already agrees to it, there cross platform games out on ps4.

The detail that everyone seems to miss is that the cross play, among other features, was announced as part of updates to the ID@Xbox program. For those that don't know, ID@Xbox is Microsoft's program for indie devs to release games.

Oh yay...another console adding restrictions. Instead of getting rid of PS3 and the "limitation" excuse, we add yet another console that will get outdated in no time and then be used as limitation excuse.
