FF14 possibly coming to XBox-1!?

Reading in the news right now at Microsoft is finally opening up their systems to allow cross-platform play with PC and PS4 (if Sony agree to it) starting with Rocket League on the XB1..

So major question is this is start of a test bed for more titles, has the great and mighty Yoshi-P finally nagged MS to death over FFXIV? I DAMN HOPE SO!

Anyone else found any further information on this? Does SE know, if not can we light a fire under MS and get them to support FFXIV on XBONE? Even if we don't own the platform at least it's another playerbase injection into the game and thats rarely a bad thing.

I can't see micro$oft having all these transactions going through (subscription, mogstation items) without getting any of the money from those

It's be cool to have another platform join the game though, would certainly boost the games overall population a fair bit

The main deal breaker for Yoshi is that Microsoft wants to require a Gold subscription on top of the subscription FFXIV requires. Unless that's changed, because they are probably still trying to negotiate because they want to bring the game to as many platforms as possible. They've already talked about bringing the game to the next Nintendo console.

I hope that MS will allow users to be silver and play games with a subscription. However, I don't think the gold restriction is all that bad as most XB users are gold, and the ones who aren't don't need to be as long as someone is gold on the XB.

Case in point, I'm a gold subscriber, but my wife and kids aren't, they get all the benifits of gold because I'm gold, without having to be subbed.

While there are those out there who are silver, I do understand and don't want to underscore the stress of adding another sub fee into their lives, but I don't think it's as big of an issue as it was last generation.

Still, I do hope it doesn't prevent us from getting XIV on XB1.

I don't think Yoshi has any say in this. If SE's higher ups want XIV on Xbox because of money, it'll be on there whether Yoshi wants it to or not.

As far as I know, the basic problem remains: either Microsoft agrees to not require Gold Membership from FFXIV subscribers, or SE agrees to let Microsoft levy a second subscription fee (because Gold Membership requires one) on all FFXIV players on XBox. Until that basic disagreement gets settled, nothing's going to happen.

Phantasy Star Universe on XBOX 360 didn't require Gold (was sub based) and as such set the precedent so I don't see why would the hypothetical FFXIV release require it. I think it was also the case for FFXI?

Microsoft CEOs changed a few times between FF11 and now, so whoever was in charge of the company back when FF14 was new probably was against the idea of cross platform play.

IIRC only reason XI was allowed on XB360 without gold sub was due to the lack of Online games on the platform at that time. Today this is changed
