Petition for Microsoft to allow XIV with cross system play:
https://www.change.org/p/phil-spence...atform-servers
Either way, it won't affect the population on the JP servers![]()
The detail that everyone seems to miss is that the cross play, among other features, was announced as part of updates to the ID@Xbox program. For those that don't know, ID@Xbox is Microsoft's program for indie devs to release games.
Oh yay...another console adding restrictions. Instead of getting rid of PS3 and the "limitation" excuse, we add yet another console that will get outdated in no time and then be used as limitation excuse.
I hope it won't happen.
playerbase 'can we have [insert request here]'?
Yoshi 'Sorry, we cannot add that due to [xbox] limitations'
Please look forward to it.

Oh damn you beat me to it by 5 mins
The Xbox One is only slightly less powerful than the PS4, both of which are far more powerful than the lowest spec PC that can run this game. Once PS3 is removed, it'll actually be low and mid-end PCs that will keep the game back. Also, the limitations of the PS3 were mostly due to the 512MB of RAM. Both the Xbox One and PS4 have 8GB, so it becomes a non-issue.
haha i am well aware of their specsThe Xbox One is only slightly less powerful than the PS4, both of which are far more powerful than the lowest spec PC that can run this game. Both the Xbox One and PS4 have 8GB, so it becomes a non-issue.It was mostly a joke. To be honest, all of the 'ps3 limitations' 'server limitations' stuff just makes me think the dev team are inefficient with their programming. Better systems existed on machines a decade ago.
That said, both Xbox One and PS4 are fairly outdated in terms of hardware. They run very similar GPU's reasonably equivalent of my old card a Radeon HD 7870 - which was a middle range card 4 years ago.
To be honest been seeing this in a lot of programs anyway. They just keep getting fatter and fatter. While you could do amazing things with like 32mbs of ram now-a-days you need 32 gbs of ram to do similary amazing things at times.
But do hope when PS5 or whatever it'll be called FFXIV will be made available for it as well - with a similar transition option as the PS3 to PS4.
(super serious)I don't know what to put here so I've put this here as a placeholder until I figure it out.(super serious)
