Is dpsing and a healer becoming the standard norm!

WoW's holy pld tank and solo healer, so this games tanking and healing is so different.

Holy Paladins could only tank against other holy Paladins. In WoW there's actually enough incoming damage from normal trash that you are kept relatively busy healing a single pack.

To be fair, the CNJ questline revolved around how necessary it was to dps when you could. And a "pure healer" was a silly concept

One day people will stop taking this out of context, but today is not the day.

To me this seems like heal dpsing is becoming more and more of a have to, then just helping dps a little. Is this starting to cause a imbalance in job performance?

I think you have to understand human psychology on this one. Once healer used to stance dance and perform some useful damage, he/she will then become more and more aggresive for speed. When that happens, you start to criticize every other players and pressure them to become more better. Especially when you farming your ilevel210 relic, you have to run those 4 man dungeons like crazy. So you naturally start to develop elitist mind.. I actually believe not only healers, but also every other job should try and play their char to fullest. I don't like Blms who rarely flare or healers who refuse to DPS (I'm healer btw), but healer should always keep tanker alive, get some HoT going, save emergency heal etc, before burning MP on DPS. Whoever can't do that and only complain is a bad player.

i totally agree with this and while a paladin can somewhat selfheal as a previous poster suggested it isnt a tanks job to heal himself thats the healers job besides that clemency costs half a palas mp and should be used in my opinion in an emergency where a healer is to stressed or the pala has really nothing better to do wich i doubt

How much PLD can self heal also depends on the DPS you're running with. I know a BLM who can go all out and not be able to pull off of me if I focus on holding hate, but said BLM is working on, and has yet to acquire, Quelling Strikes. If PLD is self healing or mitigating by casting (Stoneskim, Clemency) the PLD can lose some ground in holding aggro vs being able to focus on keeping aggro locked down. However, this does appear to be an outlier case and we were deliberately messing around and sciencing at the time.

That healer was being a bit of a douche but in Antitower and Amdapor Hard it is easy to stay in Cleric longer than the other dungeons.

Oh, btw, yes.. but we know nothing about the situation. Maybe that tank was really terrible. If that douche healer really saw tanker not using any defensive abilities, maybe he didn't. If I was in a position of a tanker and see healer performing DPS, I would try and not put myself in a situation where healer must leave his CS immediately. But how many people actually care and are really strategic like that. Only limited few... Still, as a healer, before going into CS, you must make sure all your emergency tools are set, and keep HoT up, think about what's coming next and be prepared to leave stance anytime. I personally let tanker HP drop below 3k if I have.. benediction up. But otherwise, I would keep tanker HP higher than 3k all the time and proceed to DPS, no complain because it's pointless in most cases lol

While maintaining group health may be the important qualifier. The SSS dummies are set up for healers to have higher DPS output than tanks, but yeah - SSS is all about dishing out damage and not dealing with everything else that happens in a live encounter and isn't representative of "real world" output.

Oh, and apparently SSS pegs Scholar with the lowest DPS target out of healers and that definitely doesn't apply to the "real world" just from how much a good a choke chain put on faeries can do as far as healing goes and allowing SCH more time in Cleric Stance.

Um no it makes perfect sense, if a tank isnt rotating their cd's effectively then that makes a healers job harder meaning they cant dps as much. It isnt surprising the healer the op mentioned was getting frustrated.

I can out dps any tank and most dps for that matter as whm on big pulls, holy/assize/aero 3 combo is extremely powerful. In the new dungeons I can spam holy 6-7 times before the tank needs anything other than regen, the lack of healing needed is ridiculous.

Only stupid players. Apparently, there are many lol. There was even 1 time, where I pressured not to heal Blm because he wasn't doing high DPS possible and told that we could complete it even without him. But if our run could go 5 - 30 sec faster in full group, it's worth keeping everyone alive, even the so called dbags. People just take everything personal rather than proffesional. Btw, it's not always healer's fault. Many players just need to grow up and think more intelligently before typing anything on chat. There are so many players offering help in game, also, so many guides on the internet. If people don't work hard, they will fail.. Regardless of class.
