If the boss doesn't, I use the snap>pb one.

    That's just me though.
I just looked at the openers and I have a question with this particular one:

(PB) Demo --> Snap --> Snap (B4B) --> DK (IR) --> TwS (Pot) --> ToD (Elixir Field) --> Boot (Steel Peak) --> True (Howling Fist) --> Snap

(Forbidden C) --> DK --> TWS --> Demo (Pot falls off).

Does this opener not include a coeurl form shit and just shoulder tackle? The other opener on the front page I saw starts off at Snap Punch so I can safely assume that this opener uses coeurl form shift pre pull then shoulder tackle and then the opener.

That opener does not use form shift as you can see there isn't a 3rd snap at the end of PB.

As for what rotation is the current best, there is 2 basic ones that Phireblast mentioned, then there is Ossoms new opener which is somewhere on the last 10 pages iirc. Ossoms opener is probably the one that is the strongest. But overall the best opener is one that is adjusted for each fight.

A5s it is probably better to start with Demo > Snap > Snap, or atleast Snap > Demo > Snap, because you only can reliably only get 2 GCDs off before he gets big and gets that huge Defensive Buff.

    I've been experimenting with

PB > Demo > Forbidden > Snap, I might instead try Pb > Demo > Howling Fists > Snap or Pb > Demo > Elixir Field > Snap though

A lot of people seem confused about the opener I posted, so let me give it a quick update. Also, no, it doesn't include Form Shift since it's not necessarily a DPS increase anymore. Imo, it's just annoying to do it everytime before your opener.

[ST STARTER] (which I use in most encounters)

Shoulder Tackle -->(PB) Demo --> Snap --> Snap (B4B) --> DK (IR) --> TwS (Pot) --> ToD (Elixir Field) --> Boot (Steel Peak) --> True (Howling Fist) --> Snap (Forbidden C) --> DK --> TwS --> Demo (IR falls off) --> Bootshine/Fracture (Pot falls off) --> ....

[PB STARTER] (which I use in dummies/SSS, or when I'm close to the target)

(PB) Demo --> Snap --> Snap (B4B) --> DK (IR) --> TwS (Pot) --> ToD (Elixir Field) --> Boot (Steel Peak) --> True (Howling Fist) --> Snap (Shoulder Tackle) --> DK (Forbidden C) --> TwS --> Demo (IR falls off) --> Bootshine/Fracture (Pot falls off) --> ....

Here with the amount of skill speed the new MNK gear has, the last Demo is buffed by IR and Pot (it's pretty tight though. Sometimes the Pot clips the next GCD a bit and sometimes it doesn't, not sure why :/. It's a little weird, but the last bootshine or fracture is always buffed by the potion regardless of that). I'm a little lazy to do the math compared to the other openers but I have still been getting pretty good results with this one in general.

But like many said before, if you truly wanna maximize your opener DPS, it's up to you to customize it according to each encounter.

I really see what you guys are saying about skill speed being oversaturated in this patch. I'd noticed it on my own but was wondering if I was misunderstanding something. It just seems like the idea is to mix and match a lot more this patch I guess? I haven't figured it out yet. I got the Eikon corselet and the boots to get an early lead and snagged up the pants from lore. Here's what it looks like currently, got a few Gobbie pieces too: http://ffxiv.ariyala.com/T71M

I have the Prototype Midas helmet on me but I don't know if I want to equip it just yet. Way too much accuracy and I'm really getting tired of skill speed. Anyone have any suggestions for upgrades to look at next? Otherwise, I'm mostly just trying to keep skill speed around maybe 600-660 and everything else balanced according to the stat weights. Does that sound good to you guys or am I doing something wrong? Should I keep investing in the crafted gear too or no?

I usually wait until I have three stacks before using them but once you get the ball rolling you can always just keep popping them when they're available.

The problem I have with "openers" and "rotations" and "proper cooldown usage" is they all rely on Target Dummy style fights that basically don't exist. What am I talking about? Well just Blood for blood for example... Is there a burst phase coming up where you need every bit of DPS you can get? Are you going to get full use of it or 2 seconds and then the boss jumps away? Is there a mechanic coming up where you are going to take a lot of damage?

In content that doesn't mater I just toss everything out as fast as you can. Even in dungeons I don't do that really. PB is pretty much always saved for AoE pulls but may have something to do with finding it amusing being able to toss out enough AoE damage to pull stuff off the tank

Also the world first group that cleared A8S had a Monk instead of a Dragoon.
