Not sure why you would do this. Can just find people to help you out. If it was made a requirement that I do this to continue playing, I'd sooner unsub and uninstall.
Crafting may not be for everyone, but that's no reason to devalue the crafters that now have an influx of interaction with other players. For a long time now crafters haven't really had anything to do besides craft glamor gear and leveling gear. As someone who appreciates hi-lvl crafted gear for raiding/customization, I've enjoyed having a reason to interact with the crafting community, and it's been nice helping my raid group by melding their new gear. If someone leveled their crafters I'm sure they're expecting to be asked to meld things, it's part of the joy of crafting, don't be selfish and take one of the few direct interactions away that crafters have with the rest of the community.
Why to be the best BLM I can be of course. And to be self-sufficient. I'm looking at it as an investment. Just like Combat Classes would a relic weapon.
Wrong. Only reason everyone wants to be able to meld gears is because raid gears can now take materias. I worked very hard on leveling all of my crafts to 60 to be able to meld gears, repair my own gears anytime I want, and of course to make things and make my own glamour.
Now I understand that not everyone likes to do crafts (or gathering) and that's fine with me, but that's what we're here for. For us to do it for you, all you have to do is to ask, I'm sure most crafters wouldn't mind helping you. (God knows I would be more than happy.)
Bottom line is, we worked very hard to be able to do this. Why should you be able to get an easy pass just because you're not willing to work hard to do it yourself?

I will have to work hard regardless if I ever want to have ownership of a single piece of Eikon gear. Whether I worked hard enough to flat out buy it or went through nonsense to get it crafted with mats. With materia melding I'd say since you bothered to level a crafter to 60 you feel self entitled to be the only class to meld materia onto specific gear. Which in turn will cause others to pursue the same path. Mainly because some people like me do not see the need to rely on others to enhance our stats.
Maybe there could be an NPC like the guild masters who could do it, but make it relatively pricey so getting someone who crafts to help would be preferable.
Untrue. Crafted accessories have quite often been BiS when overmelded.slotting materia is something raiders did not have to worry about, and crafting/raiding was fairly separate. Participation in crafting was not required for raiding, and participation in raiding in not required for crafting. being able to slot my own materia without having to bother someone else is far from wanting to craft my own gear.
This is an MMORPG, which is called "Massively Multiplayer Online Role PLaying Game" for a reason. You are EXPECTED to interact with other players. Players are expected to help each other.I will have to work hard regardless if I ever want to have ownership of a single piece of Eikon gear. And I leveled ALL eight of the crafting classes, which is not an easy feat. You can't just level one crafting class to be able to meld. For example, leveling blacksmithing will not allow you to meld materias to slots like rings, because you need to be goldsmithing.
You can call me entitled all you want, but I worked hard leveling all of my crafts, and it annoyed me how there's little dependency on crafters. For ONCE we get something that requires players to depend on us, and all they do is to complain about not being able to do it themselves.
Just shout and ask for help, there are a LOT of crafters out there that would be more than happy to do it for you.
Or level crafts. Which allows you to do exactly as you asked.

Well see you don't need to rely on others to enhance your stats. The beauty of this game unlike many others is that you can do everything conveniently on one character. It's really a simple choice: level crafters yourself and meld your own gear or be forced to ask for assistance (on an mmorpg, horrors). The only one limiting people here is themselves. If we couldn't request melds or something and the only option was to level a crafter I could understand where the issue lied.
