Yes and no. There's some special cases where it actually does make sense for some jobs to ignore certain mechanics to push out more DPS, but if and only if they have consulted with the healers beforehand.

For example, it's a nontrivial DPS gain for a BLM to ignore the first set of AoEs (the Meteorain) in Thordan Ex, because with Stoneskin, deployed Adlo, and Manawall (or -ward, I don't remember which one), they will easily survive the impact and can be healed with a single Regen.

As you can see, this is stuff that almost exclusively happens during highly organized group play. You don't just do this randomly in DF groups, or your healer will get very mad at you.

I think you misunderstood what I was suggesting. I was suggesting that in DF content with a scoreboard, people are not more likely to decide that their DPS is more important than mechanics - as it's illogical. However, if they do, they're probably already bad players.

How does it foster Frustration? Well maybe pre-3.2, but if Stone, Sky, Sea is any decent of a DPS gauge then elitists really don't need to deal with randoms who are bad at their jobs ever again. If you get frustrated at people who are bad at their jobs, they don't do content where you're matched with randoms and instead do it with people you don't get frustrated with.

Except SSS has no proof of clears outside of a screenshot, nor does it "gate" any content. On top of that I'm skeptical on if it;'s even a good measure of dps, because all it'll objectively say is if you killed the dummy in time or not.

Not really, as its been said it would just breed elitism, people will begin skipping or ignoring mechanics just to make sure they squeeze out every last drop of DPS to claim they are the best. If people are willing to do poorly in DF, just because it is a DF run don't tell me people won't start trying to do all they can to inflate their dps by any means needed just to try and gloat.

I notice you have no raid gear on. What are you basing your argument on? Do you just not want it in DF? See that, I have judged you and I didnt even need a parser.

Considering how many MMOs there are (literally hundreds), I highly doubt that you have played as many as you claimed for long enough to get a good idea of how players socialize in each and every one of them. Why even bother making that last point when it's obviously untrue?

I, and literally everyone else I know who has played this game and other MMO's think the exact opposite. I really don't mean to offend you here, but if you have perceived to view such a huge amount of players as toxic, maybe there's the chance that you're doing something wrong.

As for the topic at hand, I'm really tired of discussing this, so I'll keep it short. Players who don't try want to keep their heads stuck in the sand, and keep console players who wish to constantly improve by seeing their numbers from doing so. Jerks will be jerks, regardless of these tools, and the majority of arguments against giving players a metric are based on misinformation and fear-mongering.

I wouldn't say the most toxic, but it's certainly the first MMO I've seen where people try to defend intentional bad/lazy play in parties And it's also the first MMO I've played that has no way (sanctioned) way of quantifying ingame performance relative to other players. It's a bit more pronounced here when it happens because of the smaller party sizes, and the aforementioned lack of quantifying performance to backup any sort of claims or otherwise hold DDs accountable.
