What makes you think you would be more qualified, having leveled only one combat class all the way and none of the others much more than half? I don't mean this to be rude, but what do you know about all the other roles/jobs, and if you avoid roulettes like the plague, how many times have you done earlier dungeons to help people if they are struggling... or the newer ones for that matter?

One thing you probably could do might be the crafting/gathering mentor system, since that has different requirements and you do have a lot of those classes pretty high up. You don't seem to like this game very much though, afking in leves, not doing dungeons. Personally I do enjoy crafting and gathering but I don't know if I could ever like it more than combat.

You unlock Mentor status when you reach 6,000 points - simple!
oh no, i only have 3400 or so D: haha I would have some grinding to do. Helping people, especially my FC mates is something I love to do, and so I'm looking forward to the mentor system for sure.

I couldn't help them with something like rotations, but I've certainly walked many DF players in all roles through several bosses. I have 86 commends out of 250 runs purely on dps. More than half of those are from runs where someone asked for help, or we wiped and I walked the person through how to deal with things. Of course I had mostly normal silent DF runs (no commend for DPS in those), even if many of them (grouped with people who DO meet the 1k/300 req) were super slow and needed me to carry, no wipe no complaint.

No I'm not qualified for that. I'm barely 60 in anything and haven't even scratched the surface of the endgame. I'm sitting in HQ i150 barely started on blue scrips for m3/folklore, never mind trying to cap reds.

And yeah, gathering can be kinda dull and repetitive, but so is combat in this game. At least crafting/gathering is honest about it, and yields more tangible rewards for your effort.

So in this context, knowing the break points for single target vs aoe dps on your job/role while being able to efficiently maximize output would be more valuable than knowing to bait the fire to the side of the ring on the second boss of Keeper or to turn away from petrifaction so you don't turn to stone. Dungeons strats are pretty self evident in most cases and easily explained. The goal of the mentor system is to have experienced players help newer players learn the ins and outs of their job/roles. Knowing a boss strat and knowing which drg OGCDS can be double weaved without clipping are two very separate things.

So clearing 1k instances with 300 comms by tanking lets you know how to do DRG rotations... how? If they wanted it to be based on individual classes, then make a system that looks at those classes specifically. Lock it behind a quest that makes you clear a sampling of endgame raids on that class to prove yourself worthy. Create solo instance trials that check players' competence in that job's role, and the types of situations they would need to react to. Think the gatekeeper from TSW.
