Why are low standards for dps acceptable?

Though you can assume it was meant to insult, that doesn't mean it wasn't also meant to get a response.

At that point it's not a question of the intent but how the person perceived what was said. It sure didn't set the mood of tone for a civil discussion. It was unnecessary and certainly not very tactful.
