Tbh, I don't really care too much if he was rude (even though it was a very minor amount of rudeness). There are so many people playing so bad that it's far more offensive than asking if someone is a bot. He doesn't need to coddle and kid glove every player that is too lazy to use or learn their skills. The response he got is common even with a polite approach anyway. The big issues is how much people defend and coddle sup par play in this game.Sorry, but the first three lines from the OP were meant to be plain rude and are not excused by "Iwas trying to help".
Where you got '... playing so sub par' from, I don't know, as all I got from the rest of the OP was "I can't believe I got kicked for my behavior" and "my soul hurts when I can't lead other players to the light with regard to the use of Enochian".
By the way, what is your definition of 'so sub par, that they are mistaken for a bot'?
Have you ever met a bot in a level 60 instance? There are a lot easier ways for bots to produce gil.
Sub par to be mistaken for a bot to me usually consists of it looking as if a player is set to follow, and their dps is incredibly low and from what I can see they are using minimal and a select few attacks. I haven't noticed too many,if any at 60, does that mean that they are non-existant? The point of your question here is lost.
Also, what the two posters above you said.
Fourth thing he said, after being rude to the entire party ... unless you can figure out who was being addressed by those first three lines?
Perhaps he meant to 'break the ice' with a joke because no one was responding? It certainly didn't go off well.
Why not just come out and ask "<insert BLM name here> - I notice you aren't using Enochian. Have you learned when to use it yet? Want some tips?" and then silently suffer the rest of the instance if there are no replies, in order to obtain those sweet Esoteric and Law tomes?
Beats getting hurt feelings when the tank and at least 1 other person think you're just being a jerk and vote to kick. "Tough talk for someone who doesn't have a blm to 60" didn't help at all ... and then the conversation ran downhill.
OP started off seemingly innocent til he was told to shut up in a snide manner, but yeah no one denies that went downhill fast thanks to both parties.Fourth thing he said, after being rude to the entire party ... unless you can figure out who was being addressed by those first three lines?

At that point it's not a question of the intent but how the person perceived what was said. It sure didn't set the mood of tone for a civil discussion. It was unnecessary and certainly not very tactful.
Whiteroom gets it.Well to be honest, those questions are different.
A bot is a fairly defined and real thing in this game.
A loser is a bit less defined, though they certainly do exist in the game, its not the same as a bot.
So where asking someone if they are a loser would be almost exclusively rhetorical, asking if someone is a bot can be a legitimate question.
Though you can assume it was meant to insult, that doesn't mean it wasn't also meant to get a response.
Indeed. No one besides the person in question really knows if it was meant to wound from the get-go.
Perhaps not.

Asking someone if they are a bot is a legitimate question if there was no conversation before that and if they are acting funny. - You would be surprised but there are actual bots doing dungeons.
I don't see the problem asking about this, even tho it would be better to just ask any other question to get some response out of the character.
The question may seem a little bit insensitive, but the most offensive part of the conversation was trying to ignore the problem. This black mage could have learned something and avoid the problems in their future. But instead the tank stepped in, who by the way seems like having a "love interest" in the blm, and just blowed the whole thing out of proportions.
This is one of the issues with this community. We try to be sensitive so much that we actually become extremely aggresive and toxic towards any form of critique.
Hmmm. No. No we don't. We don't even know 'who said what' from the screenshot. We do know that it took at least 5 minutes, and that they were fighting trash during those 5 minutes.
We only have what the OP thought was important for us to see, and no context of WHO was on the other side of the conversation, nor have we heard anything from the Tank or BLM's perspective. I do remember the healer chiming in way early in this thread.
Makes perfect sense for me to assume the worst. As presented, I read "rude" in the first three lines so thoughtfully provided.
