The PS3 version should be discontinued sooner than later. Why should we care about people who're holding the others back? I hate when people slow down the others and want the others to wait for them instead of making themselves faster.

You may not, but SE's bottom line certainly does. Until the PS3 subscriber base is sufficiently low enough to no longer justify the game's continued support of it, it's here to stay.
I wouldn't anticipate it being dropped any sooner than 5.0, though I'd say there's a slim possibility of support being dropped for 4.0.

PS3 isn't holding anything back except maybe some Interface improvements. Even then it could be separated from the PC/PS4 versions. They already have done this. So no, the PS3 is a scapegoat, not a reason. Dropping it would kill part of their user base, and in turn their income. The major thing holding most requests back is server to client communication. So blame the architecture, and while blaming it, realize it isn't going to change without a major overhaul (which again will cost money that they don't see a need to spend.)

Actually... there's a pretty big difference between a PS3's processor and a PS4's. This becomes VERY apparent when you are doing large scale FATEs or Hunts since there are instances where you can't even see most of the players or even the target of the Fate or Hunt. This issue is non-existent on the PS4 and would probably require the entire server to be in one place to actually hiccup. The most likely scenario is that PS3 will continue to support ARR & Heavensward content, but more than likely, they will not be included in the next expansion (probably 2017-ish). This way, people who are still on the PS3 can continue to enjoy those parts of the FFXIV game without them having to make new content tailored to be usable by a console which by that time would be over 10 years old.
First post ever here! I'm a PS4 player, as are most of my friends who play the game. The issue of large FATEs and hunts not appearing happens ALL the time in my experience. Even with a hunt with 50-100 people (not entire servers), I've haven't been able to see the majority of people or the bosses (especially when they're in tight places). So in reality PS4 has the same issues like the PS3 (I experience slow load times too), just not as much. So I guess I'm throwing my lot in with those who say PS3 isn't really holding the game back at all.
If you don't play on PS3, you don't have to worry about the small problems that PS3 players face, so just be happy with your game and get excited about the new patches![]()

Indeed, PS4 plays the game almost identically to a mid range PC. The problem you're describing there is not the PS4's memory, GPU or GPU, it's network bandwidth, latency and client/server communication overheads..First post ever here!
