SAM could work as a Tank or DPS honestly, but I'd rather see it as a DPS over a third Sword using Tank.

Why not make Samurai a tank and a dps? Samurai for dps and Shogun for tank?
Wouldn't Samurai get a weapon called Kusanagi, Muramasa, or Masamune? Since Sasuke was a ninja in actual Japanese folklore, it wouldn't make sense to make a katana with the name Sasuke;.
While I'm impressed some people actually know that, I don't think real Japanese folklore is the first thing that comes to mind when people hear "Sasuke", unfortunately.
Friend/recruitment code for special items and things (use before paying first sub) RACN78W5 (updated) info on items here http://sqex.to/Cz9 code is entered via the mogstation.
I'd be all right with whichever role SAM falls into. The tank role would be especially interesting if the job carried over some of the debuffing effects of weapon skills from XI (Yukikaze=Blind, Gekko=Silence, Kasha=Paralyze, for example).
Recover the FFT samurai and make its spirit calling skills deeper. End of the tank/DPS discussion. Samurai will be a caster/support/debuffer class.
I always imagined SAM as a tank, especially since NIN is DPS but I guess we'll see. No matter what it ends up being I'm going to try it out, because SAM.
To add in my two cents, I think it would be good for SAM to be a DPS job, primarily due to armor.
Right now, we have several sets of armor assigned to a variety of different jobs.
Fending (Tank) -> PLD, WAR, DRK
Maiming (High DEF DPS) -> DRG
Striking (STR Melee DPS) -> MNK
Scouting (DEX Melee DPS) -> NIN
Aiming (DEX Ranged DPS) -> BRD, MCH
Casting (INT Ranged DPS) -> BLM, SMN
Healing (Healer) -> WHM, SCH, AST
The way I look at this is, basically, all of the different roles in the game right now. If they make up more roles, then we'll see.
There were three jobs added in Heavensward: DRK, MCH, and AST, as well as a special job in 2.4, NIN.
Because of this, I do not think we will see any job that uses Fending, Aiming, Healing, or Scouting gear in 4.0. And assuming there are three jobs introduced, that just leaves Maiming, Striking, and Casting to get new jobs associated with them.
SAM would perfectly adapt to Maiming gear, quite easily in fact, as it is heavier armor than Striking/Casting.
I predict RDM will wear Casting gear, as it will likely be an INT Melee DPS of some sort (unless I am dead wrong, which is entirely plausible)
As for Striking Gear... it would have to be a job that wouldn't look out of place in Striking Gear (then again, MCH look somewhat out of place in some BRD gear, so that may be wrong)... maybe a job that uses chakram for weapons? That'd be pretty cool!
Based on this and far too many threads I've seen pop back up out of oblivion recently,

... job confirmed, or at least some posters seem to be practitioners of these dark arts.
P.S. I would name my katana "Clothes Rod" or "Drying Pole" (depends on the translation). Curious how many people will know this historical and film reference.
