I'm still getting the relic for my MCH though my reasoning is simply that I want it. I'm not that incredibly worried about it's secondary stats. That might sound kind of noobish, but it's the truth.

Glamour is basically the only reason I'm even remotely interested in it at this point, and even that is kind of tenuous since I'm already pretty happy with the glamour I'm using.

The grind is absolutely atrocious though, there's no excuse for something that banal in this day and age. I know there is plenty of precedent from the XI and ARR relic weapons, but those shouldn't exactly be held up as paragons of good design.

To be fair, the grind is this way to give non-raiders (aka Casuals) a high iLv weapon since the A4S weapon is outside our reach.

Not for MCH though, since it's itemized so badly even the i205 Heavensfire is a better weapon from a DPS standpoint.

I'm grinding it for the glamour. Some people don't like it, but I do. (FWIW I main MNK and my secondary is WAR, so this really is just for glamour)

Do it slowly, if they allow us to change stats and the relic is the highest ilvl weapon at some point (with better weapon damage) you will kick yourself in the butt for not doing it. But no need to rush right now.
