when I was leving up my whm to get too 30 I got in Halatali and I was healing the tank and out of know where gas bomb aoes the tank and he get ko then he yell at me saying was I even healing but he could have doge it tho then he kick me but I am nervous about doing hw content I'm not a great healer

Tiny Confession time:

1) I don't heal DPS who deliberately don't dodge. At all. Not even in 4-man content. I run a silent 3-strike system. After I see you plant your ass in an avoidable AoE 3 times you're dead to me. Even worse: If you're a DRG or BLM you get only one strike. Too many offenders. I can't trust ya'll.

2) Sometimes I forget to put Eos on Obey and blow Whispering Dawn literally 2 sec after the tank starts pulling. Woops.

3) Mhi'ro Spriteseer uses Collective Unconsciousness. Literally immediately after button is hit: Shitty Malboro mob readies Bad Breath in your general direction! Me: fck

4) Benefic II in cleric stance.

5) Uses Assize. Hits an unaggro'd set of mobs. Cries.

6) Collective Unconscious on Bismarck's back during BisEx. Oh look people at half health let me just Helios two times. Nevermind everyone has a near 2k/tick regen on them. Immediately targeted and killed by snakes. Everyone wipes.

Buuuut. We BLMs are not supposed to move. If I'm not dying instantly, there's a good chance I'll stand in AoEs if it means I'll otherwise drop Enochian.
Be nice and heal us anyway, okay?xD Losing Enochian is a big deal and the dmg we deal by keeping it up is more than you could deal with that one GCD it takes to heal us :0

Then use Manawall/Manaward. Losing MP on a possible Raise if you miscalculated the damage is way worse than you dropping Enochian.

Thanks. I seriously couldn't even articulate an answer due to the sheer amount of DPS tunnel vision I read in that reply. Besides, as I've seen with most BLMs who wise up, run out and run back in and make use of your support skills to keep yourself alive. If you know you're going to take a hit on purpose, use Manawall/ward and brace yourself.

Your own survival > your DPS. Remember, some people out there like myself don't give two shits about how much damage you're doing. I've had BLMs literally stand in Ancient Quaga during the final fight of Circus tower just to keep throwing damage on him and they have no excuse because it's capped before Enochain is even an option.

Besides the only time I don't use this rule is in progression high tier raiding and even then your ass should be fucking moving.

All the resurrection talk reminds me of something. I've had to separate Regen from Raise on my hotbar because I kept Swiftcasting Regen on myself when there's a dead (usually DPS) member next to me.

Guilty. I put Raise on my extended because of this.
The new trend now is hitting Stoneskin when trying to Esuna and wondering why the cast is taking so long. God, I'm awful!

Plus even if as Blm enochian is marvellous spell
As a DPS you focus survivability over DPS
It's better to keep DPS than burst and die

As a Blm i often don't move out of an aoe if and only if I know i won't die from it to maintain enochian
But i will only do it if the heal is able to use regen on me and if the tank is not dying

Otherwise i will move.

The Blm in my static always say sorry when he don't move out of an aoe and take damage and force me to heal him.
And I remain him that before being HW healer i was ARR Blm XD and that I understand and prefer him taking damage and staying top DPS.

Another confession: I kind of like when the run is a circus (i.e. Void Ark) because I enjoy what a challenge it becomes to keep everyone alive. Tons of raises, AoE heals, Eos blowing all her cool downs? Sign me up!

UNLESS we can't clear or people don't learn from wipes. Then it is just annoying.

To the tank I let die on accident in Pharos HM: I said I was mashing Essential Dignity, but it was already on CD. Yeah, it was, but I actually was too busy with tunnel vision to heal. I really wanted to kill the thing making time bombs or whatever.
