Why not? The Trinity is archaic and already heading out the door in newer MMOs. If we threw it away, we could have far more creative jobs and fights. Why should Tanks be brick walls who get punched and that's it? Why should Healers just manage health bars? Why should DPS only exist to poke things? Lets have more utility and break down the archaic concept of Tank/Healer/DPS, then we can have Supportive jobs like Red Mage without gimping them like Bard and Machinist.
I'm all for breaking the trinity but what we have now isn't breaking the trinity. All the classes are basically becoming almost the same thing now. Healers are just DPS that do less damage and have healing capabilities. Tanks are DPS that have more HP and do a bit less damage than traditional DPS. That's boring as heck IMO. I want to feel like I'm fulfilling a completely different role in the party and am contributing in some kind of unique way when I go into dungeons.
