How would you feel about end-game gear only being useful for 3 months?

In XI (before Abyssea took over), I could log on every day and always have something to work towards/do.
On XIV if things are just basically replaced every 3 months I'd have no motivation to do anything. If I did go and finish the new content... well, then what? End subscription for 3 months? lol

I just don't understand how anyone honestly thinks it's a good idea for the game.

There is no motivation to log in afterwards. And a game that charges monthly with no motivation for players to come back is only going to fail.

It's a game people pay for. Not the American Dream. Let's not as for changes that satisfy your epeen, but rather make the game enjoyable for more people.[/COLOR]

No, I literally don't give a s*** about items, as I've said numerous times. Maybe you should take a moment to read what I say, instead of having a s*** fit and foaming at the mouth every time someone disagrees with your position. I care about having fresh content and people to do it with, not about competing against some people who don't even know I'm competing against them.

You, judging by the terminal case of butthurt I'm seeing, are basing your self worth on the rarity of the items that you have compared to other people in the game. You don't actually care about difficult content or a challenge or anything of the sort; if you did, you'd be glad that the devs are coming up with challenging content in a timely manner. You're literally mad because some people might get a chance to get the same items you have, after that content has already gone stale.

1) You don't play the game. So why do you even care?

2) THERE IS NO "CHALLENGING CONTENT". Once people like Doctor Mog open their mouth and baby step everyone through it with youtube videos, everything becomes easy. It is a natural process. Content needs to be developed to LAST and still be worth doing.

3) I care about having a reason to play the game. Long term motivation to log in and continue playing and paying SE. If the game is just going to routinely de-valve items by nuffing content there is no motivation to do it until it is nuffed.

Clearly you've made some nice projections as to how this game may be after 1.19, and you are not fond of it. Provided you have such clarity as to what motivates you, why don't you have the resolve to so simply move on?

You really seem to believe you know your stuff. It's natural for some people in the community to chose to share their success strategies with everyone else. If you don't like it, then tough. Look the other way.

Thing is, their motivation isn't "I log on and do this raid, get this gear 3 months later it's now worthless because I have to do this next raid for something even better".

People like that, clearly or else all MMOs wouldn't be moving towards this bad system. So you're right, it's not universal, but it's also to be accepted there are people who clearly disapprove of systems like that. It's always good to strive for better gear and whatnot, but not while having your previous accomplishments thrown in the garbage in the process.

We've been getting patches of content for rank 50 players for months now. New content still hasn't 100% taken over gear from old content. Yoshi didn't say that would be the case for the future either. Where are people getting this idea that that's going to happen?

It doesn't mater if the gear can still be viably used. It's not even worth the effort to obtain it UNTIL the content is nerffed.

Hate it, but why is everyone taking Yoshi's '3-months' as a literal statement that's how it will be in the future?

I don't see many people taking Yoshida-san's statement literally(I DO see many people assuming others are taking it literally though). I see a thread asking "What IF this happened? - how would you feel about it? Like or dislike?" Not saying "This will happen for sure! /raaaaage!"
