Funny thing I found is a good amount of these people who constantly pull early don't have a tank leveled. I think if more people did try tanking they would realize the stress and such it puts on people. Kinda works in the same way of jobs in the real world, if you ever worked as a waiter/waitress, you know the stress that comes with the job and are more likely to respect those people who actually seem like they are trying compared to those who just say "They need to hurry..." when the place is slammed busy and you've only been waiting like 2 minutes.

Good remark my friend! Maybe understanding what tanking feels like could help a bit.

People that try to "help" by speeding things up tend to make things worse and make the run take twice as long. Not every tank plays the same or are geared the same. Let them charge in first then you can go nuts.

I ran into a tank named Youpull Youtank. Words to live by. If they want to do your job, let them have the mob. If you get kicked, you have an instant requeue anyway.

Well sometimes DF gives that kind of people. If they go and pull mobs let them tank the whole thing and switch to DPS mode. They can kick you but they have to wait for another tank and you will not get penalty plus you can report them if they go too far and harass you. Don't mind them at all. It's an online game and here you can meet some really cool people most of the time but some other you can meet some son of Goblins guys. Always remind them that you will tank the way you like and if they do not like it tell them to leave the dungeon and go with their pro tank friend.

    Rule 78:
When you pull, you become the tank for the group.

Ive been tanking for like 4 days. Im at lvl32 and this is so annoying. Just today i had a healer going in before me.

I let him die twice. You want to pull? Go ahead. Its so annoying.

I enjoy speed runs as much as anyone, but there's something to be said for etiquette when trying to convince a slower tank to do one. Saying something like "Hey, you can do bigger pulls if you'd like," is a lot more polite than simply going and aggroing a bunch of shit and then running over to hide behind the tank and expecting them to pick it all up. Some tanks are new, or at least new to the role, and aren't comfortable doing big pulls just yet, especially in leveling content. Some of us have had people scream bloody murder at us for even daring to pull one pack to the next one. Honestly, I don't tend to do speed runs when I actually solo queue as tank into DF simply because I don't know what kind of players I'm going to get. There's nothing like getting a healer in full Esoterics gear that can't keep me standing or DPS that take 5 minutes to kill the 6 mobs that are kicking my ass while the poor healer runs themselves OOM.

It's just another situation where tanks can't win. If you go into a dungeon and pull normally, there's a chance that people will want you to speed run and they aren't always polite about it. I've had people do everything from picking up additional mobs themselves to giving me the 'omg noob tank' lecture in party chat when simply asking me nicely to do bigger pulls would've fixed the issue. If you go into a dungeon and speed pull, there's a chance that people may want you to pull normally and again, they aren't always polite about it. I've experienced everything from healers that say "......" and then just afk at the start and let me die to people that bitch, "omg can you just pull like a normal human being instead of elitist trash, wtf stop forcing your stupid speed runs on us."

TL;DR - if you want the tank to do something differently, try just freakin asking them like a civilized human being. -.-

And there's a huge difference between "omg I need to run first and decide how much the tank is comfortable tanking" and "brb afk 5 minutes between each pull".

There is a middle ground. And like others have said, it's far better to just ask if the tank would consider doing slightly bigger pulls. (Ask, not demand.)

Not all tanks have been wielding their aggro for two years, not all tanks are geared enough. Especially during levelling dungeons, when there might be new skills to consider, new dungeons you're not familiar with (even if you might have run it once or twice). And, of course, there are days when you feel less than 100% capable and prefer tanking it a little bit more safely -- or they've had recent bad experiences with healers unable to keep them alive or being berated for doing too big pulls.

*shrugs* Communication works a lot better than going ahead and taking over part of someone's job without even considering that the rest of said job is made more difficult for it.
