I'm not against having Coats and Twines drop from the new 24 man, but I think it should be 2-3 weeks of tokens per Coat and 4-6 weeks per Twine.
It's 10 ilvs, not 50. It'll already be 12 weeks to gear a single class in i200 -> 210 if they already have the eso, if its 1 upgrade per week. Don't make it last 6 months.

Progression players have to have four weeks of A3S clears to get a Twine, why should players running the Void Ark be treated better? Especially when the Void Ark is a much smaller time investment and will have much lower skill requirements.

No one is being given special treatment since both raiders and non-raiders can do the content anyway, the former still having the benefit of progressing faster with their access to Savage. It will give non-raiders a sense of progression until all of those 210 gear gets replaced come 3.2.

Doesn't exclude the Alex savage people from getting both, and finally getting their weapon upgrades even without clearing A4S.
Isn't it unfair on the players who have been wiping on A3S for the last two/three months to suddenly have their rewards devalued before they even get their first kill?

If the Void Ark gives players a Twine for a weekly clear it means that it's rewards will be unbalanced with the current raid. I don't see anything wrong with the Void Ark giving these rewards as long as they are balanced with the current raids rewards. In the past these items haven't even been available until until the second half of the patch before the next raid is introduced, considering that these are being added half a patch sooner than usual, they shouldn't be so easily obtained. Currently it seems the period between patches is longer than it was in 2.0, going by that we still have 3-5 months before the next raid in 3.2.

As a note, do you guys really think that if a system like this would go un-nerfed for the whole duration of 3.1 if it was introduced? I imagine that in the later half of 3.1 SE would make it even easier to obtain these items by increasing the amount of tokens per week or reducing the quantity needed for each Coat/Twine.

3.1 is also a month later than usual.

And that will have a knock on effect with 3.2 being later...

It is a catch-up patch after all, Thordan EX is giving out (likely) i205 weapons, so I don't see a reason for them to make it take too long to get Twines from VA.
I don't really think people are stuck on A3S because of it being gated by gear, A4S is gated by gear but A3S is more of a mechanic based fight. We had 4 deaths during last weeks clear and still beat enrage. It just takes a lot of wipes to get the mechanics right and a lot of casual/mc raid teams need a bit more time to get to grips with it. Even Ellysium has 300 odd wipes before they cleared it, it would take even more for the average raid team.

The more gear you have the less mechanics you have to deal with. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

A3S is sort of mechanic heavy, but it's largely the same mechanics repeated and stacked on top of eachother. The less times you have to go through those motions, the less likely you are to get people killed, the more DPS you'll do overall, and the quicker you'll beat the floor. Hand of Pain and the hands in the last phase also become trivial with more gear (as long as everyone can use their eyes for Hand of Pain).

Plus, I don't know anyone who's masochistic enough to still be doing A3S just for a Twine as a reward.

It isn't unfair, this is how the patches have worked in the past, we've had 3 full months plus a month later with this patch, most groups have beaten A3 by this point, and the ones that can't seem to be breaking up or outright quit. i seen plenty of people in full 210 gear at this point. it is actually right on time.

The upgrade gear has never been available at the start of the patch in-between raids, it's always introduced towards the end e.g. 3.15

While true, this content patch is not like all of the others. The first content patch of the expansion is coming some 5 months after it's launch. Which is beyond the typical 3 month patch cycle. It is certainly within reason that some modifications to the typical things players are used to seeing in the patches will vary slightly based on this.
