I really wish they would make it so that smn and BLM would have their own gear instead of grouping them up under the group heading caster. That to me is lazy. Besides which not everything that is good for a BLM is gonna be good for a SMN unlike healers. So to me they should fix that first.![]()

You have to remember that casters and healers make out 5 different jobs. 5/13 jobs is a pretty significant number of jobs sharing the same gear models. Meanwhile you have dragoon on the side, almost always having exclusive gear for their job. There's definitely an imbalance here. At the very least, they should seperate caster and healing gear entirely.
To me though, it just seems like they've become stuck with these formulas now. One of them being that all mages share the same gear models. It's like they don't even question it. This also extends to other types of content, like how dungeons always follow the same pattern and how everything is centered around tomestones and daily/weekly limits. I realise it's very cost/time-effective, but the game is starting to become stale as a result (some would argue it has been for a good while now). I'm putting all my hopes on island exploration being the content that breaks this trend. I just hope they do it right.

Telling people to unsub is always a great idea! The more that unsub because they would like more added to see the game flourish, the better! Why post ideas and suggestions on the forum when we can just unsub. Great idea.
DONT LIKE STUFF GUYS JUST UNSUB...don't stick with it and support the game..just quit.
And no, you're wrong. The devs DID say we would get horizontal gear, want me to pull it up where it was said? The cactus community rep said it in 2.0 days. It is not just "ME" who wants horizontal...a lot of people do. Not 100% horizontal...but if you think the game is fine right now...ooh boy. It's not horrible end of days..but it could use some stuff added to it.
Oops, double posted lol.
Oh , you are asking for proof...okay! here, enjoy:

Player
Very well, what about the addon API, something which they not only neglected to listen to the players about, but directly lied to them. Before Heavensward the API was apparently almost complete and just needed finishing touches, after Heavensward? "The developers are now free from Heavensward UI elements and can start working on the addon API", I'm sorry, but what? I thought it was almost complete?I didn't necessary mean every suggestion was silly or stupid. Even if 90% of them, if not more, are.
Here's the thing: It comes down to what the Devs want from the game. If the Devs don't want horizontal progression, why would they add anything to encourage it? I don't have to agree with it (and I don't) to accept it as their design choice and whining about it every single update isn't going to change it if it hasn't already.
Character models might be preloaded onto memory (no one but the developers could really answer that), but the gear? Not a chance. Just like every other game, the assets are stored on the HDD until required, which they're then transferred from the HDD onto the RAM for quick access. The armour pieces are relatively small, especially on the PS3 so this is done quickly and without too much issue, RAM is much faster than any HDD. The fact that the PS3 can't handle more UI should tell you that not every armour set in the entire game is stored on the RAM all at once.
And that's why they only load a set amount of players at once, which I assume to be much smaller on PS3. I noticed this around the release of Alexander, where if I moved a few metres in any direction the players would fade away and others would load in, that's right load in, not pop up instantly as you seem to believe which would be the case had it been stored in the RAM. The assets are streamed from the HDD and it would be silly to believe otherwise, the PS3 has 512mb, some of which are used by the system itself, it could not store so much assets at any given time. There are how many armour sets in game now? Surely over several hundred, even if each piece was a minimum of 1MB, it would debunk your idea instantly.
Not to try to come off as some kind of apologist, but I just dislike accusations without evidence.Very well, what about the addon API, something which they not only neglected to listen to the players about, but directly lied to them. Before Heavensward the API was apparently almost complete and just needed finishing touches, after Heavensward? "The developers are now free from Heavensward UI elements and can start working on the addon API", I'm sorry, but what? I thought it was almost complete?
Keep in mind that there is often translation in what is being said. Chances are, they stopped working on the API to focus on making sure everything for the expansion was ready and they are now able to go back to working on it. There is absolutely zero sense is intentionally lying about it and just stringing along players. It's not like SE could have forgotten that people are very interested in the API and forgot where in this "lie" they were and slipped up now. I'd be more inclined to believe it was simply a mistranslations/misinterpretation and it simply means they have resumed work on it.
It is evidently a lower priority to most of the other work going on or it would probably be out by now.
If they wanted to avoid translation issues perhaps we could be given official translations? It's always peeved me when we have to resort to fan translations which may, or may not be accurate.
And I agree with you entirely, but that's exactly what they've been doing. What did they say after launch again, 6-8 months after launch? Then "soon", and now, "we're working on it". Why wouldn't they have been upfront from the beginning? If it's such a low priority take there's no need to keep placing times on it when you're not going to meet those expectations, unless "soon" can be mistranslated somehow. We'd be lucky to see it before 4.0 at this point, whatever happened to it being almost ready, did they start it from scratch due to issues, and if so, why couldn't they have let us known? Yoshida's team is highly praised for being transparent and I think that's something every player here values, but with the addon API they're all over the place and not transparent in the slightest. There is absolutely zero sense is intentionally lying about it and just stringing along players
Edit: Oh how I wish they'd get rid of this character cap, such a small cap is senseless on a forum about discussion.
