They don't cost Esoterics and (presumably) most people who actively play have at least two jobs leveled to 60.
And why would any sensible person expect Void Ark to drop Alexander Savage equivalent gear?

But let's ignore the esoteric armor that is job specific? Sounds logical. We want more original designs for each class.
White Healer = Black Caster
Purple Ninja = Other Monk
BRD Gets unique gear. THANK YOU.
Tank Now = More Endowed DRG.
We want more innovative gear designs, more colors, more unique aspects to embody the job. We're all sick of Palette swaps, it's lazy.
it's stepping stone gear for raiding for a less hardcore population. you use them to throw gear at a class your main if your luck is crap in the raid, or if you haven't raided and are casual. i normally just use them to gear alts. that dragoon gear is something i'll probably be picking up.
The same point people did CT 1-3 at the time they came out.
to get gear for the main (if the 2nd stats on them are better for the job than the ones on the tome gear) and to get gear for alts who don't have already tome gear.
And of course for fun.
I feel a lot of the complaints about palette swaps can be resolved by making gear dyeable. That being said I really don't like how the void gear looks. Lore wise its perfect but I'm really tired of seeing long skirts on heavy armor, especially due to the clipping you get when running.
I'm kind of tired of this being the biggest complaint... this is why we can't have nice things, like actual long hair, all the complaining over clipping that would ensue. Ysayle, your hair will never grace my head. T,T
You know, I really wouldn't mind palette swaps so much if they weren't done in the same tier. I actually like it when they reuse some gear for crafting recipes for instance (like Foestriker's and the i90 BRD set, for instance), especially if it's something we couldn't dye previously. I would be okay with more crafted sets being palette swaps of older dungeon gear if it meant classes like MNK/NIN and casters/healers could get unique sets whenever we get new raid sets and the like.
Or instead of blaming people who dislike clipping you can blame SE for not giving us some things like cloth and hair physics. But you know.
Something something ...memory limitations... something something... please look forward to.... memory limitations.
