I know I'm a little late, but I started school so less time for forums. In my experience instant transportation doesn't automatically kill immersion, but it does seem to cause less appreciation for the world. In Eorzea I wouldn't really want to not have instant transportation since there aren't that many nuances within the gameworld (plants that are cool to look at, weird cave not used for ANYTHING [not even a cut scene]). But once chocobos come our you might find us appreciating the world a little more. My thing is in XI the map was so, IDK, if you followed the road in xi that was the long way, seems like some zones in XIV are made specifically so we wouldn't jank hug this wall or something to get through zones faster, just something I noticed. example "lemme cut this corner here so I can get through this long winding loop in Gridania faster"....."log wtf, why is there a log covered by a bush?" :[ guess I'll stop cutting corners like a lazy person you got me SE!
