    As long as we have chocobos, I dont see a problem with limiting anima or teleportation.

    It was only while we had no form of transportation other than running (slowly) that I would be adverse to anima system being restricted.

    I like a game where you have to travel long journeys, but sometimes that can just be annoying. FFXI had a nice balance when the tele-taxi system was set up (with WHMs shouting to tele people) and you still had to run a fair bit before you found yourself at your destination, so it set up an actual world which you had to traverse, rather than a set of points you instantly warped between.

    I guess my point is, sometimes you have to balance convenience with immersion, and ffxiv hasn't struck the right balance yet (with anima).

    I know exactly what you're saying. It does take away from the immersion, but it allows people who don't have enough time to still do a couple levequests.

    My example would be from FFXI, where you would always have to run by the newbie area on your way our of town. Sure its annoying but you remember heading out seeing the low levels and preparing for the journey / quest your about to take on. Passing by the familiar places on the way out.

    When I teleport around in FFXIV I am missing a part of that immersion and it feels like I'm doing my own thing.

    That being said, there needs to be an option to do both or people without much time will not be able to do anything in the game. Especially when you have to run for 10-15 minutes to get to the place you need to be. Anima helps control the overuse of it. So eventually even the heavy users will have to walk the walk.

    The full airship ride isn't just to "immerse" the player, even for those who go AFK for a 5 minute trip at least feel the distance between the two cities, but man 5 minutes is 5 minutes too long!

    Different motifs, quests, lore and all sorts of other things that matter regardless of the difference in distance. You know, the actual meat and potatoes of the game.

    so you'd be ok with -no- overworld? just have better lore and quests and warp from space to space via a map screen?
