Nah... this game will run at 720p fine on a PS3 once its fully optimized. That's not really anything to worry about. The reason why its 720p is because that's the current console standard -- most console games pop you down to 720p unless they are higher profile ones that make a big deal about the 1080p, unless things have changed in the past 3-4 months I've been out of console gaming.

Its fine, in my opinion, because most console only gamers can't tell the difference between 720p and 1080p on a game (since you can't actively swap between the two settings like on PC, so you can't see insta-comparisons to know what to look for.)

    720p is far from bad.

Yep. It's a reach-around deal between publishers and the brick-and-mortar stores. If you buy all your games on Steam there's no reason for you to talk to our friendly sales representatives so they can try and hock a bunch of crap you don't want.

What we end up getting is stymied innovation, because everyone is developing for the six-year-old hardware of the Xbox 360. DirectX is now version 11, and still nearly every game developed uses DX9 to maintain compatibility with the antiquated consoles.

Well, Black Ops is actually the perfect example. If you look at gaming in whole. PC has fallen to 7% market share. Black Ops might have actually beaten that by a point in that specific case. The point is...the gaming on a PC market is dying. The console market is growing. The future of this game is on the PS3.

The Publishers actually prefer the Steam business model. It lets them sell direct to customers without a middle man and eliminates the used market. The brick-and-mortar stores love console discs that they can buy/sell over and over again without giving any money to publishers.

They are not in it together.

It's all cyclical. This too shall pass, and PC gaming will make a comeback. Especially since consoles are ridiculously expensive to develop and produce, so the big three are going to try to turn their consoles into stuff that does more than games (they already tried and failed with this generation).

The same thing happened in the 80's, where everyone thought the NES would be the death of PC gaming.

We also had the "great videogame crash" of the early 80's after ET came out on the Atari.
People were saying gaming as a whole would die then. Look at it now.

It's all peaks and trough's people, peaks and troughs.

They thought PC gaming was doomed.

Then Doom came along and saved the day.

Couple of hours, couple of hours there. The changes to the system support a solocentric, login, have something to do, logout mentality. Its unfortunate.

I would love to see a FF MMO title developed solely with a PC MMO audience in mind. My guess is the end result would be a much better game.
    VS.

If all the PC people up and left, well, as the developer, why would I really care? They are not paying to play this game, and they have had a year of free play already. It is time to fix this thing.
    *snip*
Soo.. your disappointed that (in your opinion) they are doing what you think they should do if they had any brains?

I'm not sure, but I could swear at times you are two seperate people... If not, I bet you have one hell of a time matching your shirt to your pants when you go out.

Star Ocean - The Last Hope

I was used to playing that in 720p on my old T.V, but the font size was very small and hard to read.

I got a 32 inch 1080p HD T.V for christmas and decided to play Star Ocean again.

    My first reaction was:
"YOU CAN SEE THE WORLD REFLECTED IN THEIR EYES IT'S *THAT* DETAILED!!!!" :O

    My second reaction was:
"Horray I can read what they're saying now."

Graphically some games, such as Star Ocean, truly shine in 1080p HD as long as you know what kind of details to look out for.
Other games like CoD Black Ops however, are trash no matter what resolution you run it in.
