The PS3 killed FFXIV

You think differently? From experience I will say that this game will run better on PS3 than it does most peoples PCs unless they got $1000+ dumped into their PCs. The reason they are keeping it at 720p instead of going 1080p so they know the game will run smoothly without any hiccups. Most likely meaning the game is going to run as smooth as possible at that resolution with next to now flaws. Console games are built for that specific console so they usually run smoother than the PC counterparts unless your specs are above par.

What you saying might have applied three years ago. The average gaming PC today is way faster than a PS3. As the game is now it will not run on PS3 at all. The polygon count is too high and the character loading would cause the game to stutter horribly. This game fries GPUs and PSUs... it might as well make the PS3 do orange light of death <.<

Game fries GPU's and PCU's because the engine hasn't been properly optimized yet, once it has been it'll run MUCH better.

And yeah this game is super uber mega pretty, but I'm fairly sure they wouldn't have to duff it down too much if at all to make it run on current generation consoles.

Nah... this game will run at 720p fine on a PS3 once its fully optimized. That's not really anything to worry about. The reason why its 720p is because that's the current console standard -- most console games pop you down to 720p unless they are higher profile ones that make a big deal about the 1080p, unless things have changed in the past 3-4 months I've been out of console gaming.

Its fine, in my opinion, because most console only gamers can't tell the difference between 720p and 1080p on a game (since you can't actively swap between the two settings like on PC, so you can't see insta-comparisons to know what to look for.)

I got a 32 inch 1080p HD T.V for christmas and decided to play Star Ocean again.

My first reaction was:
"YOU CAN SEE THE WORLD REFLECTED IN THEIR EYES IT'S *THAT* DETAILED!!!!" :O

My second reaction was:
"Horray I can read what they're saying now."

Graphically some games, such as Star Ocean, truly shine in 1080p HD as long as you know what kind of details to look out for.
Other games like CoD Black Ops however, are trash no matter what resolution you run it in.

FFXIII is also incredible in 1080p. I think most of the people who gave it bad reviews were playing it on crummy old TVs.

But it's still 720p HD. Look at the cover back on the case.

On the back of my Star Ocean: The Last Hope X-box 360 case it says: HDTV 720p/1080i/1080p, and it's a noticable difference between 720p and 1080p
