this game desperately needs a good pvp content.
ranked pvp is the first step towards that
maybe with seasonal rewards like popular moba out there.

Agreed we need something instead of dress up and looking cool, the rewards aren't good incentives as all we get is PvP EXP and glamours. It'd be nice to see PvP gear that is blue for example that is for the season rather then just for show. A special mount or an actual reward for being say the first to 10th ranked players. It'd mean more people enjoy PvP and play with friends/FC.

Why though? PvP doesn't have to be in every game and I think the vast majority of the playerbase don't care about it - queue times prove that.
tbh I'd rather the game turn off hardcore pvpers because frankly, they're often the sort of people you don't want to play with =/
That said I don't mind pvpers getting something as a reward as long as it's not a PvE reward ...
And if they attach achievements to these ranks I'll be so mad, getting the pvp achievements is a chore as it is ><
Because SE's goal as a company is to generate revenue. If SE can attract a larger player base they'll receive more active subscriptions which is why they're trying to delve into both facets of gameplay: PvE and PvP. Appealing to more players = more money.
As of now, FFXIV does not appeal to PvPers. No real ranking or match rating systems. No major tournaments with cash payout prizes. Only one PvP map available at level 60. FFXIV is nowhere near its full potential yet.
It's primarily why Yoshida wants to add a ranking system to WD and it is certainly the reason why he wants to add PvP World championships in the future. Could you imagine the amount of cash this game could earn if it gained popularity in international e-sports? The amount of money and publicity that SE could gain through e-sports is just too hard to ignore at this point.
even if the game doesnt gain the e-sports traction like LoL/GW2. i think its still nice to show that SE cares for both PvE players and PvP playersBecause .

Comparing a Moba to an MMO in terms of PvP just no...lol GW2 yes because they're both MMOs. You are missing that there's no competition in this game it's a safe haven where even if you somehow hurt someone's feelings in PvP you're an elitist. "Oh no he killed me twice! Must be a premade elitist egoistic person!" All these talks of people going on a rampage calling each other noobs because the pvp community wants ranking deters people from wanting to actually try PvP. In terms of that it's the opposite people are trying to get more to play PvP matches.

This game is NOT a PvP game. It has some of the worst PvP I have ever played. However, if they made the "PvP" part of the game also PvE in some ways, then it would be an amazing game.Because SE's goal as a company is to generate revenue. Like Kumasylum in Tera. Even though players are controlling monsters its still PvP.
People want PvP just because you don't want it doesn't mean the other 70% of the playerbase doesn't want it. And they could make some PvE elements within a PvP map but that's when we got minion battles to waste even more of the PvP communities time. The developers do want to bring PvP in this game whether you like it or not it is going to be implimented. This game is NOT a PvP game. It has some of the worst PvP I have ever played. I'd say that's incorrect about how many people actually care. The majority playerbase does not care about PvP for it being PvP. They care about having different/new content to partake in that fulfills some means of accomplishing their goal, which in this case means Eso capping. When 3.1 comes out, expect a longer queue time and less 72man matches. Maybe a month or two later, depending on how the new content works, queue times might return to what they are now, which again isn't a whole lot of people that care that it's PvP (meaning they don't want specifically PvP, just something different from the normal routine). The very low activity of PvP after it's new and the frequency of meeting the same people when you queue again should raise a flag for that fact. Since the two dungeons available have been run so many times as is, some folks are taking to PvP because it is essentially faster and you don't have to even win to get your reward. Some datacenters might have enough for 2 separate groups for PvP active, but most either have one full or barely enough to start at any given time. That's a pretty low representation of players that WANT to specifically PvP, when compared to PvE. Wolves Den is the lowest representation of PvP activity between the two PvP setups, as it almost always is when it comes to ranked small group warfare in any game.People want PvP just because you don't want it doesn't mean the other 70% of the playerbase doesn't want it.
