    PS3 would pose a serious problem for this. Also the summoner story would have to be reworked inorder for this change to occur. Because the story heavily emphasizes on summoning Egi's.

    If SE had chosen your route from the start. We would possibly seen new summonings for HW.

    Yeah the PS3 would be a potential issue, though perhaps work around's could be made? Perhaps a scaled back version could be implemented in the next expansion to give SMN's lvl70 abilities a focus on Egi/Summoning.

    But in regards to the SMN story needing to change. In this idea I have tried to keep it in line with current lore. Although Summon I, II, and III would be removed, an Egi would still be summoned and stay summoned when the SMN uses their abilities (For example - Flaming Crush, Aerial Slash, Rock Buster. Or any other of the previous Egi's abilities that would now be the SMN's abilities).

    Yeah since branching jobs no longer seem to be a thing it would make sense to split SMN/SCH to remove all traces of that idea. This would give SE a way to do that without removing a DoT class, which would now be solely SCH.

    It's much too late for summoner to change. People need to realize that FFXIV jobs are not meant to be the same as jobs of the same name from other games, not to mention it's poor form to completely change a class (especially one that is perfectly fine as is) for no real reason.

    Summoners on this game focus on channelling the powers of primals and casting them themselves, not actual summoning, as according to lore only beastmen can actually summon primals.

    Oh I agree, and as I mentioned in the intro of my original post. The way SMN currently is, is not broken. There is nothing wrong with DoT's and I enjoy playing the job (It's literally the only job I play lol).

    However it does seem like there is a good number of SMN players who still don't feel SMN is quite right or stuck in limbo, regardless of how it's current play style is. I just thought I'd throw this idea out there as a bit of "what if" fun. To show a potential play style that focuses on Summoning/Egi and that also work's with the games overall mechanics/lore. Rather than just a random idea, it is actually rather comprehensive and well thought out.

    Of course this is just an initial concept. But the general idea could easily be tweaked one way or another as either a complete overhaul, or just as SMN's lvl70 abilities in the next expansion. Since as you say Beastmen should only be able to SMN full Primals, then a larger Egi that is more formed and resembles the actual Primal fairly closely could emerge from the void portal instead to cast Enkindle. There's always a work around.

    Actual according to lore anyone can summon primals except Summoner.

    I think summoner should play like beast mastery hunters in World of Warcraft.

    For those who have never played that game there are various abilities that beast mastery hunters have that they have to activate manually and their pet reacts to it and does something.

    Rather then have the abilities automatically be activated by the pet I think there should be more abilities that show interaction between the summoner and have to be manually used. An example of that might be an ability that the summoner uses that orders his/her summon to do a special attack and changes depending on what summon you have out.
