Just because "everybody else" has some type of restriction doesn't make it a good idea. "Everybody else" lacks an armory system. The armory system is still a good idea.

And yes, the selling point of the armory system is "you can do everything".

Plus ... and this is just one of those things that should be obvious ...

Changes that REDUCE the content you have access to or otherwise make you LESS ABLE to do content are to be avoided. Even IF (by no means given) you have the best of intentions, they are awful. They lead to people feeling discriminated against, punished, or otherwise feeling like second hand citizens.

Expansion pack? Same thing applies. You don't reduce what people are able to do. Ever.

Those bleating that it's good for the economy? Dead wrong. If your issue is everything sells for 20 million gil .. you don't solve the problem by reducing the people who can craft it (which specialist recipes and specialization in general leads to); you solve the problem by making crafting easier so MORE people can sell it. Prices don't drop when things are exclusive. They drop when things are inclusive. Thavnarian price dropped when the drop rates for silks went up. It became EASIER to get the mats. The crafting was always trivial.
