It's nice to play Devil's advocate, but maybe you're doing it a little too much? You're perfectly entitled to have your own opinion, so don't let me deter you, but honestly can you even give one good argument against specialization? Really? As for being on the wrong side of every issue, maybe you just have very strong opinions on the same topics.

Pretty much every crafting mechanism in every MMO to date has some limiting factor which prevents a player from being amazing at everything. They'd either need alt characters, or they'd have to choose a few crafts to specialize in. Even FFXI had caps on how far you could push your skills, with two crafts being your 'main' and the rest limited in skill levels.

Adding it to FFXIV is just the next logical step, in my humble opinion.

Look, I get it. You've had the run of crafts. You've been able to do everything, and you enjoyed how it tasted. Now they're limiting you, and you see it as having your hands tied behind your back instead of an opportunity to make one craft rise above the others. You're a glass half-empty kind of guy, and that's just fine. Me, I see myself as a half-full kind of person, so maybe that's where we differ the most.
