A friend of mine bought a new computer recently, came with 8.1... they complain about the GUI all the time. I wish I could have offered them my install disk for 7, but it's a tailored OEM for my laptop. Wouldn't work.

Luckily changing the GUI to "almost win7"-style required one tiny 3rd-party program and about 10 minutes of work.
So yeah, the GUI is a legit complaint, but it doesn't make the system "suck".
Anyways 10 fixes the gui issue, so it's simply better than both 7 and 8.
Yea and instead of we get this.
We simply no longer have control over our PC.
Of all the info in that picture you looked at the pictures.
Can you at least read a bit?
They (microsoft themselves) straight up say in those explanations that it doesn't matter if you turn stuff off because they simply turn it back on again.
I was pointing out how you are acting like a paranoid nut. And comparing data collection (WHICH LOTS OF COMPANIES DO AND YOU CAN TURN IT OFF) to Nazi Germany is offensive. Seriously, stop automatically believing image macros some nut put out there. Microsoft isn't going to see your porn collection.
10 is the same crappy flat UI as 8 with just a tad more shadow so it isn't as flat as 8. 10 is a mess, just like 8. Windows 7 is a super clean ui and looks nice. Games run the same and 10 scored less in the benchmark for ffxiv, though that can be a driver issue till nvidia irons them out.

Please, use correct terms.10 is the same crappy flat UI as 8 with just a tad more shadow so it isn't as flat as 8. 10 is a mess, just like 8. Windows 7 is a super clean ui and looks nice. Crappy = bad. You CAN'T call it bad just because you don't like how it looks. You can call Metro bad because it's made for touch-based systems, you can't call a window system bad because you don't like that it's "flat".
Feel free to call it ugly, but that's just your subjective opinion, and shouldn't really concern anyone who cares about functionality over looks.
And yeah, the game runs smoother on 10 with DX11.
Crappy is a correct term and I can call the UI bad all I want if I don't like it. That's just a dumb thing to say, "You don't like the look of the UI, but don't give negative feedback about it". I didn't call the functionality bad as this was mostly a response on the UI.Please, use correct terms.

Fell free to say what you don't like about it. But it still doesn't make it bad just because it doesn't please your aesthetic feeling.
There are WAY better words to describe your feelings about it, use them.
