Aye, Playerbase would be much lower, the game would have to be way grindier to stretch out the leveling process to keep people playing. And it would have to be grindy to actually access the raids.

I wanted to type the exact same answer but was like: meh, Apples and Oranges

People are really funny with this grinding tomestone thing. Would you rather be running a dungeon 50+ times to get that ONE drop you need? I've done that in other MMOs. Tomestones as the main avenue for gear is actually pretty innovative for me. Same with level sync. People seem to have blinders on when it comes to "innovation".
Actually, yes? Because if you play like me and only do Expert roulettes to get esoterics you will do 7 dungeons a week, or 15 just to get the weapon, or 182 dungeon runs to get eso for one class.

And no: i wont raid for BiS items, because raiding is impossible with my work schedule and i cba to find a group thats willing to have the oddest raiding times. Now of course you can ask: Why bother with eso then at all? Well thats easy: Because i do not want to wear sucky i180 gear on my main when 3.2 hits the fan and new tomes get released and it makes the daily roullette faster.
