Ha I was toying with a BLM last night near some rocks, I would jump behind one in the middle of his Fire 3 casts to LOS break them. He finally got fed up and swiftcasted Flare on me (yeah I know right?) and it did like 660 damage. Then a node spawned so had to kill him and move on. Though in another match I did get slept with Dreadwyrm Trance up and slept again 1 second later after I used purify so that didn't seem fair. For payback I'm gonna use Garuda to knock some BLM's off their leylines.
MCH got crazy good burst and they might have sustained dps issues in PVE but here that doesn't matter so much. Gotta keep leveling my MCH.

As Caster / healer (SMN is not my main but I love playing it) I agree with some Fix to SMN, it has a lot of skill out of cooldown castable while moving and with an high power.
Anyway I'm checking the Final result and I'm happy to see that up to now there are a lot different jobs among best killer, even tanks (WAR I hate you!), so I'm wondering why we don't see the first 10 spot occupied by SMN, like it happened for BLM in the slaughter cause of flare and Firestarter.
PS. anyway SMN at the actual state are decently counterable via Purify or if you receive even just 1 heal, after they bursted they have a huge lack of DPS.
Caster's being called OP in this game... somethings never change.
I haven't PvP'd in a while but I'm fairly certain two things haven't changed. Any melee attack will interrupt any caster (as if to say melee players are too dumb to use CC abilities). And, a summoner's burst is telegraphed a mile away. Find a healer that cleanses DoTs and your SMN problems will go away.


Not anymore.
SMN has an All-DoTs-In-One-Button ability which has cooldown that aligns well with their other CDs. There's no more setup, really. With proper CD usage, they can now achieve their full burst in a few GCDs. Often times, you'll be at half health before you can react, and dead before you can run to or away from the SMN.
Granted, that's with all their CDs available. And most classes have that kind of burst potential on single target when they have their full array of CDs, so I won't comfirm or deny how OP SMN is right now.

Not really. What I posted is only an observation of one aspect of the overall balance situation involving SMN: DMG:TIME potential in burst.
Most classes have that kind of burst potential. But most of them could not do it so easily from a range without any realistic counter aside from simply not being targeted from them to begin with, and with a huge AoE nuke as part of their single target burst.
I'm not saying that SMN is overpowered, but neither am I saying it's perfectly balanced. They're just not so badly overpowered as some people are making them out to be.

Summoner DPS is brutal and that's just knowing the simple fact that most of their burst attacks are hard hitting, instant skills coming from a ranged class which can sprint freely. Anyone and everyone should realize how that is no good. I target these guys just after healers and it's a lip biting choice to make.
On the topic of CD's, taking into account the above and the fact that summoner can stack aetherflows to mitigate some of their larger CD's and I think they are better off than a lot of the other dps classes.
Well, now I've been killed a few times by summoner. Dot hell -> burst -> deadI haven't been killed by a summoner yet (I think) in the new mod. Actyally the job I have killed the most is summoner. At one match it got to a point I couldn't complete the kill 'cause I felt sorry for them.
Hate all the dots they give me though, but I can easily dispel them myself.


Every dps job get their new burst abilities 50 - 60. We also need more burst now because healers have more burst healing too. Whm have their own "lustrate" with 1min cd and astro one with 40sec cd that almost heal full hp if you are low hp. Tri disaster have also one weakness it does not do healing reduce effect like normal miasma effect. It is harder heal manually casted dots than tri disaster ones.
