This is a hangover from 2.0, when we tended to easily outgear even the most difficult content and could pull several groups, people demanded the tanks run in STR, now the mobs hit a lot harder, have a lot more HP and the mentality from 2.0 carried over. Cept for me, I never bothered with STR, I'm a tank, my job is simply to hold hate so the DPS can go balls to the wall without worrying about a mob eating their face off, the more HP I have, the more of a safety margin for the healer, that's basically it, I leave the DPS to the DPS and just focus on making sure all the mobs are trying to take my virginity..... again.

By wearing STR accessories and having all of your stat points in STR, you are not making things die faster, you are making them die slower because you are lowering your group's overall DPS by not giving the healer any room to DPS.

The extra 3000 HP from VIT accessories makes very little difference, and it means the healer actually needs to work harder to top them off again (which you shouldn't be trying to do anyway because you'll overheal).

People also like to exaggerate about how "hard" it is to DPS as a healer. Leveling SCH to 60, even with crappy tanks who don't use cooldowns properly, I always had time to get shadowflare, DoTs, and bane off before I had to drop cleric's stance.

I main PLD here ....all extra bonus stats here in STR and I rock a i190 STR ring thats it. At 700+ STR I find holding agro a piece of cake.

But this is on the same level as those ''Did you die'' healers....the ones who would rather DPS then heal. So our community suffers from ''different playstyle'' healers as well. I hate having to POP Rampart..Then a Sentinel just because my Astro thought it would be a good idea to DPS or the SCH is letting Eos take the wheel in AF2 ....
So this goes both ways ... I never bash the full community of healers, but those imbeciles know who they are

Currently, an SCH that dps on AF2 can do a really great amount of DPS. Even better than yours. Of course he should heal when necessary.

Wait a minute, are you saying that tanks don't use VIT gear on content that is even or higher to their levels? I main PLD and use STR accessories all the time... on content I out-gear. Using all STR accessories so early is really dumb, maybe if you're in a bomb-ass static with healers that can handle it but if you're going into Alexander, or Bis EX/Rav EX party finders, take that shit off holy shit.

I dont have much experience in either role but Im assuming its to give the healer more room to dps without worrying about the tank dying

But it would only last until the tank drops low the first time, because if you're not at full then that extra HP no longer exists. It only works as an extra cushion if you're at full, otherwise you've been healed for the same amount as the lower HP tank and therefore have the same HP but one of the two has more STR.

Other than the cushion which works more than just the first moment cause HoT, fairies, stoneskin and what not will still work their magic on the tank, it's less stress for the healer and more place for party member mistakes. As I said earlier, it's ok to go mixed to full STR in certain situations but it's not the always right thing to do cause if you were an healer you'd see the messy tanks that are filling the DR/DF/PFs etc. That's one of the reasons I don't queue as healer anymore.
