If square think that resetting everyones gear is justified for the expansion,
then housing should be the same, everyone should have to buy a house at ishgard if they want one.

So, we want to make a bad idea even worse by implementing a way to lose something that may have taken someone over a year playing the game for maybe an hour and a half a day to save up and purchase? There are a ton of people out there with limited off hours who like to play MMORPGs, not just people with 3+ off hours devoted to entirely to playing a single game. Not to mention, not everyone is crafting or gathering to make a ton of gil like some players do.It is a clear favor to those who already own a house, only allowing current home owners first dibs in Ishgard. Not surprising since housing is one of the most unfair things SE has rolled out thus far.
The only game I've seen where someone can own a home forever without even needing to log in during a certain timeframe to maintain ownership.
It was bad enough having to lose 300k gil to a housing room that vanishes when the FC does or the person gets booted from it due to being inactive for a long time. Now we want to take this to housing worth 4 million gil or more?

Wait, who said this would be free?
Easy way to make the transfer system fair, make it so that you purchase the new house in order to make the transfer. Once you put down the capital for the transfer and confirm your purchase of the plot, your previous plot becomes free.
Done deal. Fair for all. I had figured this would be a part of the transfer system from the start, but nooo we can't wait on details can we? We got to jump down the developer's throat before they even have time to mention the idea in full.
Maintaining a house for someone who doesn't play or intend to play the game anymore is a BAD IDEA and not the other way around. There is no reason for keeping that house off the market for those who stopped playing. The amount of time someone stops subbing may be a debatable issue but I would suggest that 3 or 4 months is probably a good benchmark to start with.
well for the crafter stuff you can do anything to bleed the others dry. doesnt needs a house you know. fact is housing is a unimportant fluff system. why wasting ressources on it. no matter how many plots they open up you wont stop crying. they should remove the housing system altogether for something other.Uhh... I got my house closer to a Marketboard and bell than the Aetherythe at Limsa Lominsa is for extremely speedy access to both, I have 3 differet types of useful vendor NPC's closeby plus a Mender, and gardening has made me millions more gil back than buying the house even cost.
Funny no one has mentioned the fact that lots of seasonal events have had housing items you can't even use. What is sad and lots of people expecting is. Housing is a failed system. That they will just continue with the failed system. If they really had planned to fix the system they probably would have discussed it.
Many points have been brought up past and present. Housing falls into the fail inventory system. They have designed themselves into a corner and don't know how to fix it. The disgruntled comments on here and probably what started this thread is the lack of faith in SE of handling any new wards.
the transfer system is something needed not only for Ishgard but for the already existent residential areas as well. That said why should be people/FC that already own a house be punished? Cause you want your house first? No thanks.
If someone transfers they are giving up their existing plot in wherever to move to Ishgard, so another plot will open up.
I wont be transferring, <3 my Beach vista too much! XD
News update: Games are a "unimportant fluff system" unless you are involved in the professional side of it and make a living from it.well for the crafter stuff you can do anything to bleed the others dry. doesnt needs a house you know. fact is housing is a unimportant fluff system. why wasting ressources on it. no matter how many plots they open up you wont stop crying. they should remove the housing system altogether for something other.
Well, if they transfer then the plot they used to own come up for sale. So either way there is more plots in general.
Truly... we need a real set of personal housing wards that will not stress the server and allow everyone to have one.
FC wards are fine. Putting the personal houses in with them? That was not really optimal.
