One house per server per account and all characters on that account have access to it? idk
Having a short supply on housing making me trade XX milion gil from myself to Mr Guy with four alts that have houses isn't fixing the gil inflation either. If someone couldn't afford a house before when they were available, but can now, well so can everyone. That is just because of the flood of gil into the market now because of the expansion. Gil comes from the quests, vendoring items to NPCs, enemy drops, etc.
So yea, if you think you suddenly got rich from doing almost nothing...so did everyone. You are gonna have to fight everyone and their Fat Cat for a house in Ishgard... I really think those houses should be incredibly expensive. We need more gil sinks. There is kind of too much gil in circulation atm.
Unlimited instanced housing with decent sized payments and weekly/monthly upkeep fees on the other hand will, because the gil is going to an NPC and not another player.
I'm not entirely sure what exactly is being referred to as "inconvenience" there, tbh.
If it's the thing about sharing your personal house with friends/LS/FC/whatnot... I'm sorry, but I do not think that should be a priority over the fact that about 99% of the players don't even have a shot at housing at all, individual or FC. (Try checking the Community Wall on the Lodestone and see how many new FCs are still being created so often.)
If it's the actual lack of availability of housing as a whole feature for almost the entire playerbase... I find it a little bit offensive to label it an "inconvenience", but hey, at least they're trying to fix it. Hopefully. (Sad thing is, as long as they only think in adding more and more wards, it will never become viable.)
Like I said, no idea what's being referred to as "inconvenience". And that's kinda unfortunate.
/sigh ...
They really need to fix this shortage and not just bandage it with a few more wards. The housing system has to scale.
Get rid of the FC rooms and use the freed up resources to run an instanced house system.
it is not the issue of Gil that is affecting Housing system. It is the lack of Housing to meet the demand of the player base.
Some players are even creating alt characters to buy up any new house wards SE releases into the game so they can sell the wards for higher price than the original cost and if players do not buy the housing from them these player leave the housing area alone for a long time never to be used until they can find a player that would pay 2 times, 3 times, or 4 times the amount of price they paid for the House Ward as their means to make Gil.
Even after they sold that house these players would continue to use their alts to buy up any new House Wards to repeat the same process again.
There is currently no safety measures to prevent players from buy up new Housing Wards on alts and selling it for a greater amount of prices to other players.
As of now the Housing system is a game of real estate where rich players with countless multiple alt characters buy up Housing Wards with those alts to sell to other players for a higher price than the original price.

That said, limiting the houses to one per account I doubt will fix the shortage. Scrapers can't the only cause of the problem. The number of players that want a house greatly out number the number of plots.

While it won't solve the shortage it will certainly opening up more plots to be used and prevent rich players that already have their own Personal House from trying to take other House Wards from other players that don't have a Personal House.

Have you considered the idea, that perhaps this is intended to open up plots in the already existing housing areas?
Sometimes a harsh measure is the best one. Simply reducing housing limit to one per account would free up a lot of plots, especially if the ''house sharing'' they were talking about was implemented.
If I got my alt a house I'd be perfectly fine with losing it due to such a measure.

Uhh... I got my house closer to a Marketboard and bell than the Aetherythe at Limsa Lominsa is for extremely speedy access to both, I have 3 differet types of useful vendor NPC's closeby plus a Mender, and gardening has made me millions more gil back than buying the house even cost.This. Suck it up or leave. I personally never understood the need to have a house. What for? You can have a room in every damn inn FOR FREE! Yes FC have that neat Workshop, okay thats a good reason. But personal Housing? Oh cmon...you are never there cept the Time feeding your Choc, planting Stuff or afking until the next Queue pops...there are nicer places for that.![]()
They said nothing about "first dibs". They said transfer system. At no point did they say that those who already own a house would be able to transfer to Ishgard before they go up for sale. That's an unfounded, and quite silly, assumption. It is a clear favor to those who already own a house, only allowing current home owners first dibs in Ishgard. Not surprising since housing is one of the most unfair things SE has rolled out thus far.
The only game I've seen where someone can own a home forever without even needing to log in during a certain timeframe to maintain ownership.
No, current home owners will have just as much chance at new housing in Ishgard as everyone else, but they will be able to transfer their "deed" instead of buying a new one outright.
