I like MCH, but the proc chance on our simple combo moves sort of ruins the momentum while playing it. I would really like it if they make wildfire damage show up with the white damage numbers so we can clearly see it, and it will let us (or me) feel the satisfaction of creating a big damage number.
The quickest fix they could probably do. . . and hopefully do before Alexander, is to buff WM/GB to bring us on par with other ranged dps. (blm and smn)
while some are for the changes and some are against I personally don't mind the cast if it brought the dps but I would prefer to have Auto attacks on and no cast time with Gauss barrel
I agree with this.
Also they will likely never bring the DPS on par with BLM/SMN due to the support capabilities.
When I say bring it on par I mean bring it on par unless we have to restore mp/tp. Cause we already lose dps from that. Don't forget that other dps have good support abilities. Ninja Goad and Trick for example. They don't get punished for that.
Well to be fair a lot of people here are referring to tests done with training dummies, which have no mechanics. Now I didn't take my machinist into dungeons yet, but spent a lot of time with my bard in group content. While I didn't feal like a dirty cheater with my damage, the fact that I can fight the boss from a safe distance and even attack while dodging if necessary can make a lot of difference sometimes. When I fought Odin in Urth's fount with my main (ninja) I was forced to spend almost all my time running around and dodging. I was forced to rely on dots for damage. That's not much. I'm pretty sure that Machinists are better choices than melee or caster in certain fights.
So, now that I've had a lot more time to parse with other DPS and also other MCNs, I'm starting to see a rather disturbing issue...
1) I'm sadly behind most every other DPS. Not surprising.
2) I'm very far ahead of every other MCN I've played with. While it helps to soothe the self-esteem issue we MCN's are developing, this still doesn't mean a whole lot. It's like saying I'm the tallest midget!
3) While I'm ahead of other MCN, I'm starting to see that once the fight drags out past 1.5-2 mins, my DPS drops off a cliff, and it slows down to meet the same abysmal DPS of the other MCN.
So, first off, once our initial burst is done, we are extremely pathetic when it comes to contributing to the party's DPS. Second, MCN seems to have very little reward after our initial burst, or really short fights. Apparently, once the window of correctly-applied-opener passes, it doesn't matter how good or how crappy you are. The job simply doesn't reward correct/efficient play.
so i had someone test my dps im at 800.....im told tanks pull more than that im just going to wait for buffs like this job
