if you don't like dungeon, grouping,.... why are you playing mmorpg??
Whenever I see someone say things like this, I sit here and wonder where I could find a game like FF or WoW or RIFT that is a single player game. People trot this statement out all the time, and I'm always stumped by it, because I've never found a single player game that's the same as these MMOs. I mean the same combat mechanics, the same type of deep and immersive storytelling, the same sort of other game play like crafting, collecting, flying, exploring, etc., and the same three dimensional world (not an isometric one like Diablo3--ick).

Group content isn't my favorite thing, and hasn't ever been. It's a LOT better in FF than in WoW to be sure because the community (so far) in FF is nicer, but it still causes me a great measure of anxiety to do group content and I'd be happier NOT doing it. Give me a game like these MMOs that ISN'T an MMO, and I'd be thrilled.

So where is it? If anyone could point me toward it, and it was as fun to play as FF is for me right now (and WoW and RIFT used to be for me) I'm there.

You explain this well. Someone show me the game that is constantly growing with all the things I love about this one and frequent updates and new stuff, and I'm there. Till then, this is a good place, save for a few things.

I did love Lotro, with all the solo options for the epic story, which is like our MSQ except not gating, but they are recently moving away from that due to the group or quit crowd...

You are wrong. A MMO is just as much of a solo game as it is a group content game. It is a Virtual world RPG that expands. Having other players to do content with is a option, but is no shape or form what all a MMO is and what it offers. Anything else I need to clear up?

Also it is force grouping because content solo content is behind group content walls in the story. To do the things that are fun solo, you got to do groups. Thus that is forcing players hands.

some game have try to make a sort of solo mmorpg like kingdom of amalur, but well, we know how well it did sell. (sadly)

the core design behind mmorpg, it's do think while communicating with other person, the first mmorpg was like this, a chat that did offer activity to do while chatting.

but as the time did pass, the core mechanic did evolve. the solo part sure is important, but for all the dungeon and grouping, it's still a major part of the mmorpg, deny this it's.... well idiot!
you want the story to be purely solo? believe me it's far from what it was, where even battle story was involving group. but it don't change the sole fact than play a mmorpg for not play with other player... is... well... you have other game out for this.

another point, a looot of the mmorpg component (quest, progression, area genre) are often used into recent game. even game like Dragon Age inquisition feel more like a mmorpg solo, that really a rpg. when you add an open world component into a rpg, it get really close too of the mmorpg. but i digress.

ff14 is a mmorpg, the dungeon and the grouping are part of it. if you don't like this and don't want to do it. sorry but it will not change and thanks god. play a mmorpg as a solo game... is sad! really sad!

i think i don't need to add more than this actually.

I read people's posts on wanting to solo in a MMORPG and I'm like: ...why the heck do you even play a MASSIVE PLAYER ONLINE GAME for SOLOing? It literally makes NO sense whatsoever. Games like this is about groups, and having player interaction. If you don't want to be forced into groups, then don't play MMOs at all. Because, THAT is what it IS. An MMO filled with people that is grouping for content to clear and to progress. If anyone does not get this, then I feel sorry for them. If you want solo action, go play something that doesn't require another person's help or interaction. Yoshida will never do as what people wants of this. MMOs, and games in general (at least to the FF series) has dungeons to their Mainstoryline, or optional dungeons. Also, you can do other things without doing main story line. But, I guarantee you, you will eventually get bored of being gated from anything and everything that is exciting and full filling.

Let's remove challenges so everyone can play together all the time.
Oh wait, then there would be no reason to do anything.
    This person gets it.

ESO's main stories are solo. Go play that.

Leveling past VR 12 required a group though as Craglorn wasn't designed for solo play.

Nah, Voicing ones two cents is how many mmos have changed for the better. So things can and will always change. ^_^ Might not be this but other things will. That is what feedback is all about.

I enjoy the game how it is, I don't feel it needs to be changed in how story interacts with dungeons. If you have some social stigma that makes you apprehensive towards the social aspects of a social game, then mayhaps this cup of tea is not fit for you.

Well when people act like this. Assume just because people don't like group content means they have a social problem. I think I can understand why some people would have a stigma with players acting like that.
