We do it with 3 tanks and 3 DPS sometimes, I always stay on the boss and the Moon Ganas only. Never had a problem.I would consider if I was doing this Ex with 1 Tank and 1 Healer (It's been done) and with a comp like that, everybody's DPS would be higher anyways. No with 4 DPS, I am not taking the risk. Risking to lose your cast to respect mechanics is still a safer way to clear and should be done like that.
If people think the solution to fix broken mechanics on a job is to ignore mechanics. This is another argument not to bring you into progression and leave you behind with your BLM. You can get away with farm content but the question here is progression and in progression you were hitting those mobs. If you weren't, you were a danger to your group.

All I'm hearing is that it's not progression so it has no value about BLM vs SMN in progression, I'm sorry.
@Zappa, I,m not twisting words. I'm pointing facts![]()
Except our first clear was with 3 tanks and in 150-160 gear. This has nothing to do with progression, this just sounds like poor raid coordination to me.

So, Warrior do more DPS than Bards. Your argument of 3 tanks is not valid because Warriors are insane right now and they need to tune down Fell Cleave. I have friends from Odin, I know where you are coming from unfortunately. Endangering your raid by ignoring mechanics is a major weakness that nobody in progression wants. While Bane would be a DPS lost for the SMN if you don't get enough tick, needless to say dots are on the boss but you are damaging the adds and doing your job.
If this is what you think of progression you're free to do so. I would simply not pick you and discard you or anyone that thinks like you away picking that one guy that might do less damage than you but I know will respect the mechanics before his own benefits in progression. Farm content is a different story if you do crazy things like solo heal, solo tank 6 DPS. It's fair to assume ignoring adds on BLM won't matter in this scenario.
I have no idea what you mean by that.
Except it's not really endangering if my group has the DPS to do it alone ? Again, a bard can easily solo the blue butterflies. If your group is having problem dpsing the blue butterflies, they should work on their DPS. And that's not even mentioning healer's DPS.

That's cute.I have no idea what you mean by that.

Except you are putting more pressure on your group for your own gain when you could DPS the adds. In farm groups, I tend to target that one add melees aren't on and I wasn't missing my spells at all while respecting mechanics. But on progression when I was clearing the first time, I was taking the bullet but it was a clear. My numbers weren't super but the goal was to clear.
This kind of behavior to me is toxic in a progression environment. "I am better because I pull big numbers" meanwhile, the true heroes are those other players that work for you greed. This has no place in progression.
Would you Apoc the tank is needed when you're at your RS and doing your 6 Fire IVs? Because if you do you're bound to lose damage somewhere until we get the Spell Speed for it. I would but I'd lose damage. I figure you wouldn't and make it harder for your healers and tanks.
