More does not mean better, that is about as blatant a fallacy as you can get. DOTA restricts it's heroes to only a handful of abilities yet that game demands hundreds upon hundreds of hours played to even be a half decent player, simply because there is a lot of nuance and depth to those handful of abilities and a lot to learn about their use.

Cramming a bar full of abilities means nothing when half of them are superfluous or could be combined into more interesting things. Unless, I guess, all you care about is having 50 different flashy yet ultimately pointless animations to play.

I did too, more or less, just because we might be used to it does not mean it's good design.
